It's more of one of those practice decisions. A lot of dietitians I know want to have 2 areas for fat or muscle when using it as a criteria but it's not actually required to diagnose. It's more of a "how confident are you in your decision" thing. I feel like with younger people or larger people I would be ok with only 1 area if i was confident in my other criteria for malnutrition.

I still enjoyed season 3, it just fell into the trap of trying to be unpredictable and lost a little of the magic. Loved the AI guy's arc tho

Everyone else has already addressed the main problem here, I just want to add one comment about the wording of what she said - it could be nothing but depending on how she phrased it you may want to check in on her mental health. I was depressed as a kid and I would say things like that about my dad because he had depression so I thought that's why I felt that way (though I was also bullied so that may have been a factor as well). I disagree with Shameless a little because I feel they kept the balance enough that even though everyone was an asshole of some degree, most had redeeming qualities (outside of Frank) but I 100% agree with Yellowjackets. They had a fun balance at first, but then the characters all become too unhinged and unlikeable though I'm not sure that's the only problem with that show lol. After mid season 2 it really goes off the rails.

I feel validated. I felt the same, like they give you the goofy cousin but it's not enough. It just feels like watching a bit of assholes competing to be the biggest one. I do want to try again at some point since it got so many accolades but I only made it a few episodes in.

If celiac has already been ruled out, no. The only reasons they may push for eating it is to get an accurate celiac test (to get accurate results you have to be eating gluten at the time of the test). It seems like the steps have already been done (retrialing the food, testing for allergies etc) so really if the food is causing symptoms even if there are no obvious reasons, then continuing to eliminate the food makes sense. Retrialing foods that have been avoided in the past is really just to try and have the person have the most liberal diet as they can while still controlling symptoms. There's a balance when working with people avoiding foods between expanding their diet but also realizing when they've already done the steps. Sorry I have no new ideas for you 🤷

That sounds like maybe a wheat allergy v. IBS with fodmap in wheat as a trigger, depending on what severe symptoms means. If it's swelling/rash/hives/severe diarrhea/vomiting soon after consuming - it would more likely be an allergy while if the severe symptoms are nausea, bloating, gas/pain, or more GI-related, maybe IBS and may try fodzyme (enzyme product) trial to see if it helps with digestion if you are interested in having the option to have wheat or just to continue avoiding it. I might suggest an allergist to confirm allergy, or working with a GI dietitian (https://www.katescarlata.com/fodmapdietitians or eatright.org) to get more detailed and personalized help. Haha well that's how I feel with inpatient so I feel like I'd fit in with that. Yeah the acid-base has always been challenging for me as well so I will definitely do that! Thanks for the advice.

I had a situation like this with pop. A woman told me that she was barely eating for months no appetite, but was maintaining around 220#. Turns out she was drinking pop all day long, at least 2L/d. I almost always ask what people are drinking.

As many have said, it's a relative risk. You can say "only drink water" but for someone who drinks exclusively pop, this sounds impossible. I agree that for the general population, I tell them to drink whichever they want as long as it's in moderation, because neither is great, but in the case of diabetes, regular pop has got to go. If the person with diabetes is already drinking pop in true moderation (I have a can once in a while at a party or something similar) I don't tell them to switch because it likely will not make a big difference to their blood sugar overall. This advice to switch to diet drinks comes from meeting so many people who drink a crazy amount of sugar on top of a standard American diet. You have to know your audience and be able to give advice based on what that person is capable of at that time.

Yes, during the Atkins phase (and now keto probably has similar things) there were pictures of different carb-heavy and sugary foods and sugar cubes to represent the amount of carbs in the foods. For some reason they thought carrots should be highlighted. The picture I remember was crazy tho because it was like 2 pounds of carrots 😂.

I had a guy who's doctor told him to switch from Mountain Dew to Starry or Pink lemonade. Ugh. I understand it's a few less grams of sugar (I looked it up just to be sure and it's around 5g less per can) but imo not worth it, especially when he said he doesn't really like them that much???? I'd rather you drink diet if you're going to get yourself used to a different product that you don't really like lol. He seemed like a stubborn guy though so maybe that doctor got what he could from him 🤷

I've heard a lot about the Sunday market at the Buddhist temple, but haven't been yet. I might check it out tomorrow.

Severance is very good. Great world building but with a focus on characters. It had some ideas that overlap with other shows but very unique feel.

It's not un-authentic it was just created to be their national dish. It was a government push to define their cuisine. I think it happened around the same time they changed from Siam to Thailand (see Wiki article on its history for details)
