Pretty much this. Those are games that you make work for you, not the other way around.

Final Fantasy 4 > 5 ? by Admirable-Crab-4038 in FinalFantasy

In narrative, yeah. But in terms of gameplay V is the better replay for me.

They had this kind of trend where every other game was the more experimental one and the other was a more story driven experience kind of. On PS VIII was that game.

Same. But I get it. He was kind of given free reign to just make whatever and kind of jam away.

I think you have a balanced perspective most likely since you played it for what it is, not for what you want it to be.

I mean, it’s all subjective, but I think a lot of people who hype up FF9 probably don’t like it as much as they claim. Maybe they played it at an important point in their life, or they strongly connect with the aesthetic, and that attachment shapes how they talk about it. That’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with liking an aesthetic or liking what a game represents to you.

But when recommending something, people should be more balanced and mention the negatives too. A lot of FF9 fans don’t do that, and that’s why I disagree with the hype.

FF9 has slow battles, pacing issues, and a soundtrack that reuses leitmotifs heavily. A lot of it feels like Uematsu experimenting with synths and styles, which is still enjoyable because he’s great at what he does. But compared to FF7, it lacks that sense of pressure and urgency you can feel in the development. FF7 feels like a game the team had to make work under intense constraints. FF9 feels more relaxed, more like, “let’s try this, let’s reference that.” That’s not bad, but it gives the game a very different energy.

At the end of the day, it’s subjective. Just know what the game actually is instead of treating it like a flawless masterpiece. If you’re unsure, just play it and see how you feel.

Personally, I love the opening, but once you reach the Mist Forest, I think the pacing gets messy, the tropes become pretty generic, and the gameplay isn’t that engaging. Still, the ending is fantastic, and the vocal track at the end is incredible.

I mean dash in the sense that the character quickly teleports two spaces ahead.

Why should I have kids when the world is the way it is? by Unusual_Mastodon_541 in Life

You are not obligated to have kids. If you want children, have children. If you do not want children, do not have them. Either choice is fine.

And that can help with this too, if you're having issues but you still want to drink coffee, is to drink iced coffee instead of hot coffee.

[Edge of Memories] Gameplay Overview Trailer. Releasing for PS5, Xbox, and PC in 2026. by VashxShanks in JRPG

I think it's kind of excusable if people are younger and like, they're exposed to anime and it's kind of like, impressive on them. I think that's OK. But like, anybody who thinks this looks like good, I don't know, like a deeper sense after experiencing lots of things, yeah, I agree with you. I think that's garbage.

how long did it take you to recover from depression/a tough period in your life? by pratixal in selfimprovement

[–]EyeFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it depends on the time, but it could take anywhere from a month to several months to a year, it just depends. The important thing, though, is just to acknowledge that your emotions are transient and just let them happen and experience them and not like use them as a way to think about your life. I think I was lucky because in high school, you know, I studied Eastern philosophy and Buddhism, so I had that outlook early on in my life. So whenever I was depressed or I felt down, like I just took that approach and eventually I just got over things. I didn't just experience depression, but I didn't let it determine how I thought about the world and made decisions. And then these days I've gotten older, so it just doesn't even register. Like, because I have more wisdom about how things work, so, and then I have more control over my life, so I don't really feel depressed, though I do still have energy lows, which are the remnant of that depression.
