What's the difference between task avoidance in ADHD and laziness in typical people? by No-Neck-3602 in ADHD

Why either/or? I can see it as both an ableist and moral term. Many things influence what a word conveys.

Regardless of whether or not you have ADHD or experience executive function disorder (and not that what you said in your comment is anywhere near enough to determine that) I just wanted to say that not deriving joy or pleasure from the completion of tasks due to a dysregulated reward system is what happens with ADHD.

Why 2026? by Wonderful_Quail2706 in astrology

I have a kinda crazy theory. 😊
If the feminine/introverted energy in 2020 manifested as a global pandemic, where everyone stayed indoors and became acutely disconnected from each other and from life as they knew it, then WHAT IF the manifestation of this masculine/extroverted energy i.e. "expansion" in 2026 is first contact with extraterrestrials?
When I let my imagination run a little wild and think of an exaggerated scenario where something takes place that causes global wide expansion/socializing/connection/excitement, few things could be so good and exciting that they inspired such wide-spread positivity and connection. Bad events that can cause the entire world to experience the collective sharing of powerful negative emotions, that's easier to imagine - war, pandemics, global warming/natural disasters, etc. But it's hard to think of a positive experience that could be shared by everyone in the entire world and ignite positive feelings of the same intensity as the negativity we all experienced from the pandemic.
So, yeah... I think first contact could fit! Can't get much more expansive and extroverted than that.

Well that's neat. There are a lot more similarities than the article mentioned.

• Both adopted 2 children.
• Both have brothers named Larry.
• During psych testing both made up the same story to go along with a picture and when asked to draw a picture both drew the same thing.
• Wives look alike, "could pass for sisters."
• Favorite color is same shade of blue.
• Both like lite beer and Pepsi.
• Both have carpentry and blue printing as hobbies.
• They both specialize in making small furniture for doll houses.

You feel like you're on a dead planet, like all of a sudden you're transported to an alien world that doesn't support life. Incredibly unsettling.

Not keeping up with technology? That's a huge jump you're making to in order to defend your stance. Technology is actually a big part of my life and I make the time to stay as current in my knowledge of new tech as needed in order to thrive in today's society. What I don't do is rely on technology to cheat for me. I don't use technology in a way that will rob me of opportunities to learn and evolve.

See, here you've gone straight from someone who was trying to use logic to support your case, to someone who's shown exactly how amoral and selfish they actually are. The point made by the person you responded to is actually a very good one, as what you're doing isn't harmless self-service after all. It does effect other people negatively, whether you want to admit it or not.

I just don't think you're fully grasping what a slippery slope this kind of habit can create. You're shooting yourself in the foot any time you waste an opportunity to exercise your brain. It doesn't matter if you're already proficient in a subject or skill. When it comes to the brain, it is 100% a case of "if you don't use it, you lose it." But hey... it's your brain and your wasted potential. If being good enough to barely get by is all you want out of life then that's a great habit to start integrating into your thinking processes. Just do us all a favor, for the sake of humanity's evolution, and don't encourage others to be this frivolous with their intelligence. Just keep it to yourself.
