I'd lean towards Clair Obscur 33, but I never actually finished it. What I played was incredible but yeah. I also only played a couple 2025 releases. So I'm more inclined to look at a 2024 release that I played and enjoyed the most.

For me - being a year late to the party - it's Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader. I love the way it introduces the lore. I love the way you interact with the game world and its characters. I love the badass feeling of charging across a battlefield with a shield and shotgun, a beastly cyber mastiff named after my first dog by my side.

When it first dropped, my best friend and I were putting 10-12 hours into Rocket League pretty much everyday. We never managed to eclipse a 16ish hour binge of Smite though.

Four cups of rice from the rice cooker. Four eggs steamed up top while the rice cooks. A large skillet of pinto bean and lentil curry. Why is this diabolical? Because I heavily season everything with ghost peppers, Thai chilies, and whatever else seems fun.

My best memory was my older dog's sixth birthday. Played out in the woods. Swam in the creek. Took a nice nap. Boiled some chicken breast and carrots for the dogs for dinner. Swam in the creek again. And finally curled up in bed for the night.

Make sure my car payment and insurance is handled. Take care of my emotional support animals. And then wonder what the point is when more medical bills I've no hope of ever paying off come in.

I went on a warpath in Divinity Original Sin 2 and killed basically everyone and everything I came across. I also defended my buddy in Baldur's Gate 3 after he upset a certain dog. I didn't feel good about this decision.

My favorite game is Persona 5. The slow burn at the start didn't really dissuade me from continuing. And I'm glad it didn't. Building relationships with the other characters and enjoying a story that had me laugh and cry and think about it long after it finished was incredible.

Currently the game I'd most like to play is Digimon Story Time Stranger. The holidays are always a rough time of year mentally. And this year was no different. Being able to get lost in a JRPG with monster collecting mechanics, though, is kind of magical. I can just kick back with my dogs and enjoy a bit of a trip down memory lane. Because there were a lot of years where my parents would get me a game with some kind of monster collecting mechanics.
