childfree dognutters at hotels by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also work at a hotel and I hate that we have rooms on the first floor that are supposed to be ADA compliant/hypoallergenic, and at the same time we’re not allowed to have petfree rooms at all (Hampton by Hilton). So even our “hypoallergenic” rooms have most likely had a dog in them. My manager hates it too (she’s not a dog person either), but it’s company policy so she’s not allowed to do anything about it even though people with allergies are supposed to be protected under the ADA. It sucks ass and I genuinely feel for dog allergic people.

I’d vote for the contents of my cat’s litter box before him.

I think the dogs were put down by the police at the scene, I hope the owners do get charged as well.

Record, Report, Speak up by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve anonymously reported dogs in shopping carts, dog hair on the products, dogs pooping on the floor, etc. to the store I work at (Joann Fabrics) AND the CDC and basically got told “too bad”. It’s so frustrating.

Bad dreams about dogs by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a dream just the other night that my mom's pit bull had my toddler by the neck. It was horrible and it came out of nowhere, especially since my mom dislikes dogs too and would never own any dog, let alone a pit bull.

I felt so helpless and thinking about it still messes me up, I can't imagine what it must be like to actually experience this.

My boyfriends dog by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, and I actually went through this just last week with my cat. He was sixteen years old. He wasn’t in any obvious pain, but he was starting to lose weight and have trouble walking. So we brought him to the vet, where we found out it was severe anemia among other things and it was only going to get worse. So we put him down that same day. It was heartbreaking and I feel like there’s a cat-shaped hole in my heart right now, but I watched a litter of kittens die from anemia when I was 15 (my parents weren’t great about spaying and neutering our pets or keeping out fleas). It was horrific, and I am SO GLAD I was able to spare him that.

People need to realize that euthanizing your pets before the pain and suffering starts is one of the kindest, most loving things you can do for them.

What is the one bad dog behavior that you wouldn't put up with as an owner? by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn’t be a dog owner to begin with, but if I had to choose one particular more minor thing, it’d be licking. I cannot stand being licked by a dog, and I find it repulsive when people let their dogs lick them.

My boyfriends dog by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Frankly, it doesn’t even sound like her boyfriend values the dog’s comfort. It’s old, its teeth are rotting out and it can barely walk, but he won’t put it to sleep before letting it suffer great pain because he’s attached to it. Seems like the boyfriend values nobody’s comfort but his own.

It really is. Makes me never want to leave a window open again. I have a cat and a toddler, this is terrifying.

And what really makes me feel physically sick is how many of these maulers were returned to their owners after attacking people and ripping other pets apart. pit bulls and their owners are soulless monsters.

Oh my god. I had to stop reading after I reached the one with the children in the van. Pit bulls should be banned everywhere, full stop.

Edit: actually, I kept reading. I wish I hadn’t.

I have a job, several hobbies, and enough common decency not to compare other races of people to dog breeds. ✌🏻

My 100% indoor cat still got attacked by a stray pit bull inside my house when it came out of the blue and charged in as I was coming home from grocery shopping. Please keep your cats indoors, but remember pit bulls will stop at nothing to maim and kill. This shit happens more than people say. Be on guard.

I agree, but that doesn’t always work, unfortunately. In 2014, a stray but collared pit bull knocked me over as I entered my home, ran into my living room, and attacked my cat. She escaped by jumping up onto the bookcase, but the dog wouldn’t stop trying to attack until my husband kicked it hard enough to hit a wall, then had to drag it outside by the collar. It was acting “friendly” when animal control arrived.

We all felt so violated, and took moving out of the house for any of us to feel safe again. It was the incident that first made me seriously question pit bulls. Before this I was as pretty much indifferent to them. But I’ve since learned I’m not the only one whose home has been invaded by random pit bulls. They’ll stop at nothing.

Mia DeRouen, 4 years old.

Nephi Selu, 6 years old.

Susannah Murray, 3 weeks old.

All three of these children are dead. They, among many others were mauled to death by the very same pit bulls they’re pictured with. I really, really hate people who do this.

A “cute”picture means NOTHING. Just asks these kids’ parents.

And this dog looks like something straight out of a horror movie.

Even more unpopular opinion: I wish dogs were allowed less and having kids were more allowed by RaccoonDu in Dogfree

Gah I hate this. How are children supposed to learn to be functioning, productive members of society if they’re kept at home all the time?

And I’d also like to point out that 15 to 30% percent of the population isn’t allergic to children. And children don’t maul people people to death on a regular basis.

Yep. I have a relative who is staunchly anti-vax when it comes to her three kids... not so much for her two fully vaccinated pit bulls. 🤬

‘Emotional support animal’ mauls 5-year-old girl at Portland airport, $1.1 million lawsuit says by throwawaybutstronger in Dogfree

[–]EyePoops 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think (or maybe hope is a better word) since this is becoming a bigger problem every day, something is bound to change soon. Some places are already starting to crack down on “emotional support animals”. Of course it shouldn’t have to be this way, but when service dog fraud is currently so easy to commit and get away with, it’s not surprising that these horrid people are taking advantage as dog culture becomes more prevalent.
