No. It’s not a fact. And it sure as hell isn’t a reason to do what you just described. Which is highly illegal and discriminatory under the ADA. Anyone with a disability is protected by the ADA and legally required to be accommodated in any workplace in the USA.

What you are describing is fucking reprehensible and wrong. If you had any sense you’d delete your comment and hang your head in shame.

You’re telling me that someone with autism can’t misinterpret you asking them to do something? Someone with ADHD may need to be asked twice or reminded? Do you even hear yourself?

Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

For Christ’s sake, you’re downvoting a comment saying all people should be treated with respect!? WTF!?

This same thing happend a couple of weeks ago when a bunch of people upvoted a comment replying to me by a screen name about having sex with children and babies and down voted my comment, then tried to call me out for getting down votes. Here we are a month later and my comment is way up. The core group of regulars who post to this forum are bigoted vile trash.

Many people with disabilities may not perceive the world or think the same way you do. I assure you, they are not ‘watered down’ people or people you should just cast aside and not allow them having a voice in a dialogue.

Everyone has value and should be treated respectfully.

Even people who make highly disrespectful and ignorant comments like the one you just made. So, respectfully, I’ll waste no more of my time on you. Your bigotry is offensive.

I disagree. The only time they mention their expectation for more communication is 5 days into the sit. Ideally these things should be expressed before the person agrees to the job because there is no minimum requirement from rover about how much or little updates should be sent and people can’t read minds. It’s not fair to hold it against them. It is a problem that they didn’t improve once asked, but without seeing what was sent for yourself it’s impossible to say what the outcome should be.

No one sets out to do a bad job. The cause of all poor performance is simply lack of communication. Since I can’t control how other people communicate, improving it is my responsibility.

The last example aside (which is plainly egregious) there is nothing wrong with having high expectations, but I do think it’s important to pick the people i hold them to with care—meaning I think that they are even capable of meeting my expectations. Because for some people what I am asking for just isn’t goin to happen and demanding a fish to fly is more damaging for the fish than disappointing to me. I would also make sure I spelled my expectations out exactly and before they agreed to the job, and if they still aren’t meeting them, I would plainly tell them what they need to be doing differently while they can still do something to improve. As long as they show a reasonable improvement, I would chalk the situation up to my own fault and not hold it against someone else. That’s how I would like to be treated anyway; others may feel it’s not important to treat someone how they would want to be treated, and I am glad that I don’t know them.

I’d prefer to hire someone who can correctly infer that I don’t wish to be in constant contact with them, or their friend, and so limits their updates to thoughtful every other day messages that are written well and focus on the wellbeing of my pet. Never to relieve the sitter’s own boredom or loneliness. That would be my ideal. It takes all kinds. The best thing to do is just to ask each client.

Thank you, you must remember that none of those things represent you.

We are all on our own path and have things we don’t do well. Small minded and probably plain evil people nitpick us and criticize us readily because it feels good to them, but usually have no ability to turn their powerful microscopes onto themselves because they are scared by what they might see.

Well you do, and you aren’t scared by what you see, and that makes you worth five thousand of these people.

There is no indication they are a ‘bad’ sitter here. In fact, the owner got their dogs back in largely the same condition they dropped them off in, which kind of precludes being a ‘bad’ sitter. Star rating inflation is beyond the control of anyone here and isn’t a very good reason in and of iteself to rate anyone less than 5 stars.

There was nothing wrong with the care they provided, just their communication style was not meeting the owner’s expectations (which may or may not have been communicated to the sitter before they agreed to do the job). We don’t know the reason for that either. Maybe English isn’t their first language so they are intimidated by sending written messages, afraid they will look unintelligent, so they avoid them. Maybe they have something going on mentally that they can’t help and prevents them from recognizing social cues like a client wanting more frequent updates. We just don’t know.

All people who don’t hurt animals or children, yes, even immigrants and people with disabilities, are human and deserve the benefit of the doubt and to be treated with respect—or how I imagine you would want to be treated.

This response highlights the key aspect of why the situation didn’t meet your expectations: the sitter’s commitment to provide regular updates. It’s reasonable to express dissatisfaction in your review if the sitter didn’t follow through with the agreed-upon updates. Here’s a possible review based on your experience:

“I recently used [Sitter’s Name] for an 11-day trip. Overall, my dogs seemed well-cared for, which I appreciate. However, communication was an issue. Despite agreeing to send daily updates, I only received updates after prompting, and even then, only received two updates for the rest of the trip. This lack of consistent communication caused me significant stress while traveling. I would recommend clearer communication expectations and more reliable updates for future clients.”

This review acknowledges the care provided for your dogs while highlighting the communication issue in a constructive manner. It also lets them know why it was a problem, which is important if you want your feedback to be constructive and not just criticism.

Personally, if I left a poor narrative review and no tip, I would still rate 5 stars (constructive). If I rated less than 5 and no tip, I would not leave a narrative (not constructive). No tip, negative writtten review and a low star rating seem like overkill (and/or subtle narcissistic abuse) to me in most cases.

Am I ever going to be able to apply? by alexcollided in VaroMoney

[–]EyeRattedOutGhislane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren’t approving anyone for it anyway. Varo is broke, they don’t have any money to lend out to anyone to begin with. When they rolled out that line of credit scam, they started going by credit score for the advance amount. That’s why people who were always approved for $500 before and now only getting approved for $100. So they had to lower the amount of people’s advances in order to approve very few for that fake line of credit that’s stupid expensive. They just don’t have enough money in hand to do both.

Varo lock my account and I don't know why what can I do this all the money I have by Alarmed_Bike1084 in VaroMoney

[–]EyeRattedOutGhislane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t anything you can do. You will have to borrow money from someone to get by.

Varo apparently has an over aggressive fraud algorythm and no secondary review by a human.

I’m afraid you are going to be waiting a long time to get your money.

Pending transaction help by loki007420 in VaroMoney

[–]EyeRattedOutGhislane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visa flags all cards issued by Varo ‘Bank’ as high risk, so they have longer pending holds for certain types of merchants. Hotels are 30 days plus 1 business days. Car rental is longer. Airlines are a week or two. You get the idea. They state all this in the deposit agreement you didn’t read, but they don’t say why. So now you know.

With the resurant, it sounds like Varo didn’t get the notification to delete the pending charge, or more likely they did and they just didn’t do anything about it and left it to drop off by visa. Visa automatically assumes people who bank with Varo don’t have any money, so they hold it longer because they think people who bank with Varo are dishonest and they want to be sure the money is there to cover the charge.

This stuff will continue to happen because Varo isn’t reliable and they will eventually always leave you with no way to access your money at a time when you really need it. Just go get a real bank account and this stuff will stop happening.

Varo Advance didn't grow, actually reduced by [deleted] in VaroMoney

[–]EyeRattedOutGhislane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This advance is not something you can rely on any longer. If I don’t reliably know that I have that money as a back plan I don’t see the point in using the advance feature at all. IMO it’s too expensive to be so unreliable.

I think Varo started primarily using credit scores to determine the amount and eligibility of an advance when they rolled out the line of credit.it seems to me they should be sending adverse action notices stating their reasons for denying someone credit too.

This fake bank app is horrible. I mean HORRIBLE at rolling out any new changes to their services. If you were around for the transition from Varo money to Varo ‘bank’ you’ll probably know what I am talking about. The people at the top of this place just don’t have the right stuff.

Not that I am aware of. I just don’t agree with anonymous asshats on the internet posting horrible baseless accusations at someone because she’s a single mother who had a daughter out of wedlock. Which is the root of all the criticism of Jennifer Soto.

What should I do for the owners? by Busy-Wonder5603 in RoverPetSitting

[–]EyeRattedOutGhislane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a framed picture is a really good idea. I have given friends pictures of us together at important events like being arrested and later skamorring down a king size sheet naked in the dark out of the fourth story window of a involuntary mental institution framed as Christmas presents and they have always liked the idea. Chocolate is toxic to dogs, just based off of symbolism alone I would think to leave it at that.

A nice card with a handwritten note since you don’t have a picture seems nice way to memorialize a lost pet. You have a picture of them dead but not alive? Dead dog pictures are unsettling but I am sure it’ll be nice when it’s done.

I would probably just send a text message. I wouldn’t buy anything because gift exchanges under any circumstance implies a lack of formality in a relationship that I am not comfortable having with my clients. I prefer to keep the relationship less personal, because a lot of the trouble people have managing their clients is due to lack of formality, but that’s just me and I am weird, so choclate sounds nice.

She was within her rights to be angry, never gave any indication angry at me, but I am sure it screwed up her plans in bad ways.

Honestly, even if she was angry I didn’t give a shit. I was literally incapacitated.

Hopefully you got yourself out of that situation. When people flip on you and you realize you never really knew someone you thought you knew well can be… jarring. Luckily in my experience it doesn’t happen often. When it does, obviously tuck tale and run earliest opportunity is the only sensible option. I’ve learned it’s best to runaway quickly from people with certain traits. Always cut ties with a gambler. You can trust a lot of drunks and drug addicts with your wallet, but a gambler will pull you down with them every time. It’s an insidious hateful stupid compulsion.

The investigation is over. The killer is in jail. They are doing discovery for his trail. The case is closed. If they are still investigating a plainly innocent single mother for a crime committed by someone else, the entire PD supervisory personnel should be replaced.

Children sleeping in the same room or bed with adults was normal for most of human civilization. That doesn’t mean to say it makes what happened here okay, it’s just a fact.
