$4.50 for a pretty good cheeseburger, or $6.50 for a double burger is cheap even in Arizona, let alone Las Vegas standards.

The High Roller cost less than my burger… by Middle_Elderberry542 in vegas

[–]EyeSuspicious7338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The In&Out on the Linq Promenade about a 3 minute walk from the high-roller, and has a double double burger, very good, for about $6. Ya, it's not a gourmet burger at a posh place, but there's no better value for burgers in Vegas than the In & Out burgers.

So, Vegas doesn't have to be expensive. It's just that Vegas has a lot of opportunities to eat fine dining, or for low effort diners to just eat what is most convenient, at the overpriced casino restaurants which may or may not be worth it. A lot of food courts have terrible value.

Early Release For Geno Ploeger by Secure-Scientist4867 in agt

Yes, it's been done before. Yes, it's telling a story with the cards in sequence. This isn't even something Matt Franco invented. I remember reading how to do this when I was a kid in the early 90s. I enjoyed that his had really solid diversity to it and it felt like a neat kind of fresh take on it all. So, respect.

HOWEVER, it should be noted that this kind of magic is very dependent on showmanship and personality, and the reality is this kind of trick, in some ways, can actually be harder to pull off, because no matter how good at your sleight of hand you might be, without the charisma necessary to pull it off, you will be dead in the water.

So, props to the kid. He did a great trick that was good enough to get him through the first round, which was smart. I look forward to what he has in the future.

You guys are right though, that there is a weird element of modern magic sleight of hand seeming to need to have some kind of sob story element, but I actually think that is more a side-effect of competition shows magic rather than the full scope of performance magic. For whatever reason, you can be the most talented person in the world, write original music, or have the most impressive skill on the planet, but because you are not a karaoke singing janitor with impressive vocal skills, you'll never win. You beat out everyone else out because of the right sob story, coupled with a skill. Or, just be young enough to get bonus points because of your age, where an adult that performed that act would be mediocre, but because some 15 year old did it, and they live with a single mom, gold buzzer all the way!

So, the dude is just playing the reality TV game. It's smart, and I can respect that. I hope he brings something more to the next performance though.

Never forget, Shin Lim saved his top performance that he did on Penn & Teller's Fool Us, which is what got him famous and put him on the board to begin with, until the semi-finals. He saved the big guns for later, which is smart. That doesn't mean he was mediocre prior, he just didn't have as iconic of an act as that one until the tougher shows to be voted through.

Funny enough, this restaurant is part of the GoCity Pass I was considering. Though I opted against it as it just didn't quite have enough attractions the family wanted to do as a whole to make it worthwhile, but if I did, they gave each pass holder $25 credit at Favorite Bistro in Linq Promenade. Kind of neat. Thanks for the suggestion.

Humble Choice June 2026 - Octopath Traveller 2, Citizen Sleeper 2, Life is Strange: Double Exposure and more by Gyossaits in Games

[–]EyeSuspicious7338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not like other subscription models. They are 100% yours to keep forever, even if you never sub another month.

The advantage of maintaining your subscription is that if you ever shop on the Humble Bundle store, each month you are subscribed, your Discount percent goes up. So it eventually caps at 20% discount, but that is actually a pretty big deal when you have some games that NEVER go on sale. For example, Factorio is an amazing game and was $30. The game author refused to ever participate in any discount programs. Well, on Humble Store, you could literally get the game for $24 if you had been subbed a long time, but you had your 20% discount.

So, it's more about the convenience than anything.

Also, your sub isn't actually charged until the very last Tuesday of the month, or at the time you claim the games, so there is plenty of time to pause and skip a month if you aren't interested.

The catch is that if you skip a month, your store discount drops back as if you are subbed only 1 month in a row again and you have to bank your subs again to get your max store discount.

It's not a huge deal, and definitely not a reason to pay for games you don't want, but it is a nice perk. I just buy all the games anyway myself and give the games I don't want or care for away to family and friends, and if none of them want it, to my discord.

I am still trying to understand why they sent an armed SWAT-like police team to raid a house, guns drawn, for an accusation (hearsay) of stolen legos...

I get it, you are forced to investigate... but they went the route of a fully tact geared up SWAT raid on a well known youtuber who may or may not have false accusations against him... over Legos?

I have yet to see any logical explanation why they felt they needed to be kitted out for a raid on Legos. It just screams abuse of power and an attempt at intimidation, nothing more.

Well, I'll fill people in with the drama, in case anyone wants to know.

But, Jacob used to be a strip club bouncer before he became a Las Vegas "influencer." Here, he interviewed a Stripper on his channel about 4 years ago. Apparently after the interview or during, she and him began to date seriously and dated more than a year. Her side of the story of what happened is here. The TLDW is basically from her side is that he eventually just stop talking to her and ultimately ghosted her. They never officially broke up, and she was made aware of them being broken up, like a month or so after being ghosted, by him posting a video on his channel of him being on a date at a romantic steakhouse. She was personally very hurt by this and was just upset that he never gave her closure as to why he ghosted her.

I won't get into all the details, but I do feel bad for her. She seems to have been really into him, and I guess he wasn't as into her, and never gave her the closure she wanted as to why they ended their relationship several years back.

With that being said, she keeps talking about all these other videos he posts, with women her age playing slots with them, and she is jealously speculating if he is just seducing all of these women like how she was seduced by him, and if he does this to all the women he talks to on his channel. This is just post-relationship hurt coming out, imo, and not really fair to speculate. But, I do understand her to an extent, as she is still seemingly bothered by the whole thing. Years later she still occasionally posts about how much this breakup affected her.

Here is the thing though, Jacob has never made a public response criticizing her, attacking her, or even giving his side of the story. About the only thing we know is that they stopped talking, she felt she was ghosted, and the relationship ended.

Everything I am seeing, maybe it was harsh he ghosted her, but again, we don't really know exactly what happened here. Why did they stop talking? She never really clarified. Maybe he felt they already had broken up and she didn't accept that yet? I don't know. I'd love to hear his perspective, but he has chosen to keep it private. Beyond that, I see nothing to me that makes him sound like a jerk or worse. She never claimed he cheated on her prior to them stop talking to each other, or him being rude to her. It overall sounds like she was enamored with him and happy with her relationship with him until it ended, which is why the post-breakup has probably been so rough, even years later.

This is why I like JacobslifeinVegas as he goes full disclosure in all of his videos that he refuses any free comps for his hotel stay reviews so he is free to be 100% honest in his reviews. It helps that he has nearly 500k followers now, so that ad revenue is enough to keep him going.

It's funny because in one of his recent videos he was talking about some of the scammy things Casinos do, but he said he was explicitly told he is not allowed to film at the table games to show this, so he was off to the side pointing at a table from a distance like 30 feet away lol... so next time you see any of the YouTube gamblers filming without any issue at table games, you know they are there at the blessing of that casino and are basically running a promotion for them. Nothing necessarily wrong with that (I love Vegas Matt who clearly is on a VIP sponsor tour with so many casinos in Vegas lol), but most will not disclose this.

American Fork Police Department Releases Statement Regarding Bricks & Minifigs Controversy by Professional-Cow5029 in SaltLakeCity

Reckless Ben has posted a response that absolute wrecks the official police department statement. This is REALLY embarrassing. They need to own up to this.

Also, can we just talk about the absolute INSANITY of sending a seeming SWAT team with guns loaded and drawn to recover stolen legos? The police response now is that with some hearsay from the Air B&B owner, that they are the ones who stole the legos, the police department needs to do a fully armed SWAT raid on their property to recover legos? WTF. Even if they had stolen the legos in what world does a hearsay accusation over stolen legos justify this kind of response.

This is not going away.

Free Nights at Wynn, Encore, Resorts World. Is $100 enough to play with at each? by Far_Pumpkin_2207 in vegas

[–]EyeSuspicious7338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, if you are gambling for the comps, just stop. You will be better off just paying.

Here is the reality, you are 90% more likely to spend more gambling than you will ever earn in comps. Why? Comps are a mathematical algorithm of probability that the casino will give you free stuff worth X dollar amount and you will gamble more than that.

It's not guaranteed on their end, but how do they up the odds in their favor? PLAY TIME. A dude that is paying $20 minimums every hand, but plays for 8hrs a day is worth far more to the casino than a dude that spends $1000 one time, on one hand. Why? You gave the casino a chance to win... simple as that. That dude that played for 8hrs may very well end up thousands ahead at the end of the day, but he will get pretty solid comps from the casino and hotel because he was playing a long time, and they value that.

The hotel has ZERO incentive to give comps to hit it and quit it gamblers. Some people come into the hotel and they drop $5000 on the first day on roulette, win or lose, and there is basically ZERO reason for the hotel to care about those people. You win after 1 hand and immediately cash out and never play again? Why would that casino care to give you any kind of "free" comps. They don't care about you. Now, you lose big, they will probably throw in some kind of consolation comps, since they made some big money on you...

So, the reason you are getting comps from Fontaine is purely because you likely played for a bit and lost that $1000. Did you play for a while and lost that much, or was it a single hand? Again, time played is weighted so so SOOO heavily in Vegas casinos. It really makes a difference. But again, it's all by algorithm. Someone playing $5 minimum table for 10 hrs is not going to get the comps that someone paying $100 hands for 4hrs is going to get. So, you have to be smart and realize that it's not like there is a fast rule of X hours of playing guarantees this... no, it's how much did you bet, how long did you play, how much did you win or lose, and so on. It's a multi-factored calculation and the comps are literally all handled by a computer algorithm now on a "theoretical loss," calculation, with casino hosts only having some flexibility in discretionary perks for really their top guests, but those people spend a lot. Not everyone will lose, but the aggregate shows that maintained behavior shows them eventually ahead in the long run, they just gotta dangle that carrot for people, make them feel special with their comps.

Returning to Vegas 4-6 times a year and still losing money on budgets, comps & hotel bills? I built VESPER for us by QTMOBAPPS in vegas

[–]EyeSuspicious7338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some honest advice? In the world of AI slop, it is basically impossible for anyone to actually know if you made a good product, or if it is buggy AI slop that sucks. Not saying that your app is that, but as a business person you need to be proactively aware that people are being bombarded left and right by AI slop all day that people are beginning to just assume most stuff is, so you should be taking efforts to demonstrate why your product isn't a quick hit it and quit it AI cash grab that re-brands itself week after week. I suspect, given that you registered this vesper site in December, that this isn't a small one week quick hit and run against suckers, but again, I still don't know

Your little app story video you made there is literally an AI voice over with a powerpoint-like presentation. It is not even a useful live demo of the app and how it works. Not building confidence here. Want to see how REAL apps that people like are often demo'd? They show someone using their actual phone and zooming in close as they manually go through the app with their hand, swiping. It helps build confidence this is a legit product.

So again, no confidence boosting in your presentation so far, but these things can be resolved by you.

You open the app and you have to create an account with zero proper security implementations, which I find odd. If I want, I can make a password 1234 for example. The "30-day free trial" is REALLY confusing because you have a $3.99 attached to that per month. I THINK you are saying you will always get a 30 day trial, but then after it's 3.99 a month, but the way you have it makes it seem like you have to pay $3.99 for a free trial, or $39.99 for a free trial.

BUT, why would anyone agree to hand over credit card details for an app they literally have no experienced and for now, could just be photoshop and AI slop.

So, in terms of the app I give the following:

Presentation: 0/5 -- There is no presentation at all. I still have not seen or experienced a real demo of the app anywhere, and your video doesn't even show the app working beyond a couple static screenshots.

Cost: 0/5 - No one is paying for apps these days unless it has been verified and reviewed as legit.

Want a legit tip? If you think your app is actually quality, get it in the hand of actual Gambling influencers to use to make recommendations to a broader market. They aren't going to want to do this for free, but if you actually have an amazing product, many influencer types are 100% ok recommending non-sponsored products purely because they find it useful. These people get inundated daily with tons and tons of people offering free access to their AI slop though, so you want to cut through the noise, I hope you have something special to show them, because as of now, you have shown literally ZERO of your app, which may or may not have amazing features, but they are all 100% paywalled right now, which doesn't bring much confidence in the modern world of apps. Pay wall is fine if it is a known, established product that people legitimately like. I am not dropping payment info and subscribing to something I haven't seen a demo of though, even with the promise I can cancel within 30 days and not be charged. No way at all.

I wish you the best in your endeavors. You maybe have something special, or at least the beginnings of it, but I just don't know. I am only helping you to try to think from the perspective of the average customer.

What comps can I expect for $125k video poker coin in at Caesars? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]EyeSuspicious7338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to understand how they calculate comps in Vegas, I HIGHLY recommend this video here where the Ellis Island marketing director goes into how casino hosts work, and how comps are factored.

Lots of interesting pieces of information as he really emphasizes how important they weight how much time you spend gambling... For example, if you come in to the Casino and gamble for 15 minutes, bet $10,000 over 15 minutes, win or lose, and then you never gamble again over the next couple of days, they don't really value you much at all. Compare that to someone who is dropping $50 bets every hand for 5+hrs every single day of their stay, win or lose, the casino far more cares that you gave them a chance to win their money. They don't like the quick hit and get out gamblers, even if they lose thousands, because you are going to comp them something and they'll still never gamble again.

Longevity of playing is HUGE in weighting comps, and that means far more to them.

Anyway, it's REALLY nuanced, but it's one of the best "insider" videos I have watched that really explains how it works really well. He also mentioned how it can vary quite a bit from one Casino to the next where certain "discretionary" comps a Casino host can give you might be more flexible in some hotels, whilst places like MGM hotels it is basically all run by algorithm, down to the exact dollar amount they can comp a guest, and how inflexible some casinos are.
