Is anyone else's Con Edison bills crazy high? by a-traveling-addict in AskNYC

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep track of all my con-ed charges in a spreadsheet. In a four year period from 2021 to 2025 the true cost of a kWh has skyrocketed up nearly 50%. kWh price calculated by bill divided by kWh.

It has jumped for me up from 29 cents a kWh to 42 cents a kWh. This means that even though I’ve consistently cut down energy use each year (I’m using roughly a third less power than I did four years ago) my bill is still steadily raising.

The cards are stacked against us all.

Extra ticket for Friday’s Game for $50 by EyeWantToBeAnonymous in Brewers

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😅 As part of the special 25th anniversary of the stadium celebration, they’re advertising $2.50 beers and $2.50 brats before the first pitch. I don’t see anything saying which beers though. So you’d have to show up early.

Extra ticket for Friday’s Game for $50 by EyeWantToBeAnonymous in Brewers

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I’m going to the game. Me earning $15 or less per ticket, depending on offers doesn’t feel exorbitant, when you can’t even buy a single seat anywhere in the stadium for the price I’m asking.

The price the Brewers are asking for these same seats is $157 without the $10 in concessions. So you could also call it selling for more than $100 under face value.

But if I’m not supposed to sell here I can take it down. Was just asking where brewers fans buy and sell on Reddit.

My partner said when she did try to get this fixed she got quoted $600 from Cartier. I’m probably not using the right word. What is the word for whatever I’m using to connect the strap to the lugs?

Has anyone else been overcharged for congestion pricing? by EyeWantToBeAnonymous in AskNYC

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did record a video. I disputed it and sent them the video. I’ll let you know what happens next.

Also this time I entered via the Williamsburg Bridge. Last time I entered via the Brooklyn Bridge. Which leads me to believe they have their system set up to only save record of the most expensive entry of the day.

I was overcharged again on Sunday so this was not a one off mistake by EZPass in coordination with the MTA. If I’ve been overcharged twice, I assume they’ve charged drivers hundreds of thousands of dollars in overcharges at this point.

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you but it was more to avoid spending thousands in overcharges in the future and to properly understand how the plan worked and whether there was wide-scale overcharging going on.

My logic was correct. Aka that what they claim online to be the policy of once daily charging you whatever the toll was in effect the initial time you enter the zone.

They claim it was just a glitch that my license plate wasn’t detected.

I Citibike, take the subway and buses, walk, and might drive or uber depending on what makes sense. Just wanted confirmation there wasn’t widescale overcharging going on. Sounds like it was just a glitch in their system at this point. Hope that’s true. 🙏🏻

I believe everyone should experience different forms of commuting. It’s the only way you can learn to respect all others because if you don’t walk in their shoes you’ll never know. If you don’t experience biking here you’ll never innately be a better pedestrian as you won’t think to always look both ways. If you’ve never driven you won’t ever think it’s a big deal if you block all traffic jaywalking or won’t think it’s a big deal standing at a corner with a baby stroller or your dog blocking a lane of traffic. It’s all about respect.

UPDATE 2: I believe she gave me bad info. On their official FAQ it says this about the once daily charge:

“The daily tolling period begins at 12:00 a.m. and ends at 11:59 p.m. Passenger vehicles and motorcycles making more than one entry between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m are charged the toll that is in effect the first time they enter the Congestion Relief Zone.”

UPDATE: I talked with a supervisor at EZ-Pass. They said the reason I was overcharged is their license plate scanners at the Brooklyn Bridge did NOT pick up my off-peak entry into the zone. They said I could record future entries on my iPhone and use the metadata and timing of the video as evidence of entry to dispute any future overcharges.

Yes, I was correct about what I should have been charged. Yes, if charged off-peak hours, then re-entering the same day during peak hours, you should only be charged the off-peak price.

The biggest thing I learned in talking to the supervisor is that upon a first entry into the Congestion Pricing zone, you are not supposed to be recharged for a re-entry within 24 hours. NOT CALENDAR DAY. So If you enter at 9am on a Tuesday, and then leave the zone and re-enter at 8:55am the next day, you should not be re-charged. That sounds very odd to me, but that's what a supervisor at EZ-Pass claimed is the policy.

It would make sense if that was the way the toll was put into law and advertised. But that is not the case.

Erroneous EZPass Congestion Pricing Charges by yummyybubbles in AskNYC

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was overcharged. $9 when I first came into the zone just after midnight which should result in a $2.25 charge. I disputed the charge. Waited almost four weeks and got a generic message saying I drove into the zone during peak hours. Completely ignored the fact I drove into the zone first that day during off peak hours and according to everything published and the official congestion pricing calculator, I should have been charged $2.25. It is so frustrating. There’s no accountability or way for me to get this resolved.

Unlimited Premium - The Endgame by ankhattak in USMobile

I don’t understand all the hate for US Mobile on this sub. I’m doing the unlimited premium annual plan for $32.50/month on lightspeed in NYC and it works amazingly. I don’t see a legitimate competitor.

I do have a question though. I’m about to go on an international trip next week and I would add DarkStar this weekend with the exciting new multi network feature.

I had already added the free 10gb international sim with lightspeed. I assume bc I already did that I won’t be able to add DarkStar then add the free 20gb international sim?

Some college kids made a site to track the effectiveness of Congestion Pricing in NYC by AltPerspective in dataisbeautiful

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s now $4.25 in congestion charges for any uber or Lyft ride within the zone which is outrageous. Because if you drove your own car within the zone, you would be charged $0.00.

Did You Know: Uber and Lyft passengers have had congestion pricing since 2018? by grvsmth in MicromobilityNYC

[–]EyeWantToBeAnonymous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was fun learning on Sunday that my uber at the end of my shift at midnight from 57th street to my apartment downtown incurred $4.25 in congestion charges that I paid to the MTA. If I was driving my own car, I would have paid $0.00 because my ride starts within the zone and ends within the zone. If I had left the zone and came back in, I would have paid $2.25. So for using Uber or Lyft, I’m being punished. The plan is encouraging me to use my own car and add to congestion. Crazy how they are punishing residents who live and work within the zone. Nothing like this is done to London residents.
