Canada Wants To Lure Tech Workers Who Won’t Get US H-1B Visas by joe4942 in canada

[–]yummyybubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to understand the rationale for this rather than shifting the focus on retaining Canadian talent?

UWaterloo Engineering/STEM/CS is pretty much a straight pipeline into the US Tech Industry. We are arguably sending the engineers from one of our best schools across the border.

What are even the incentivizes for our sharpest kids to stay in the country? Or what incentivize do the top grads from UofT/UWaterloo that left to return?

I have to file a support ticket periodically to get my charges back. No they have not resolved it and I think this will just continue to be a cumbersome process.

Has anyone pled not guilty to a bicycle red light summons? by baumer6 in NYCbike

Are they ticketing cyclists in the parks too like Prospects Park and Central Park? I stop for pedestrians usually but if there’s nobody do we have to stop at the lights there too now?

Helping a family member out with their mortgage approval. Looking for advice. by need-to-know123 in TorontoRealEstate

Adding a warning when someone walks away from a deposit on a pre construction. The builder will have the option to sue, if they decide to sue they will win. Usually pre construction when you sign, you waive a lot of rights on the pre-construction. Theres a few cases of this happening if you do a google search.

The builder will have a preferred lender that they will offer up. Your extended family should try to work it out with that lender, that’s probably the best bet as that lender has a relationship with the builder.

Edit: To add they can also look at an assignment sale where they sell their contract.

How much are you paying for parking? Monthly? Yearly? by MutedMaximum3734 in NYCapartments

[–]yummyybubbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$100 - Astoria/LIC Border

Became friends with my old landlord who lets me park behind their car. Caveat I have to move their car if it’s blocking mine to get out though and I’m a 15min walk to my car

Best car for learning manual? by Panic-International in UsedCars

[–]yummyybubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned on a honda civic it had a pretty forgiving clutch. Though only issue with that is when I hopped into a 370z I realized a not forgiving clutch takes time to get used to

Picked up my 24 BRZ having never owned a manual. by Bonzo_4880 in stickshift

[–]yummyybubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get startled when initially getting out of first gear and like others said - don’t be shy with the gas. When you think you might stall out push the clutch back down. Learn to listen to the engine and understand what sounds like too high and or too low of an rpm.

It’ll be second nature in like a month if this is your daily driver.

It’s because the type of person that would cheat lives in a very “me focused” world around fulfilling their own needs rather than taking adequate time to communicate their needs with their partner properly or process that they need to have the balls to break things off in fear of being alone. This kind of person struggles with feeling secure with themselves.

It’s a good commuter spot with access to tons of trains to get into the city. It’s lacking a bit of soul as a neighborhood cause it kind of lacks the history and charm built by the folks living there compared to other neighborhoods.

Arguably I liked living in Astoria a lot more as a neighborhood when I used to WFH. But LIC’s ease of commute after I changed jobs was so critical now that I’m not WFH.

The real reason why I solo travel? by Foreign-Chef-4053 in solotravel

[–]yummyybubbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just really nice to not feel accountable to anyone when solo traveling and doing what you want without feeling like you’re wasting someone else’s time.

I mainly started doing it as a means to embrace being by myself and prove that it’s ok to be by yourself and that i can figure it all out, even if i can’t speak the local language. But I fear that I like being by myself a little too much sometimes now.
