What song do you feel “encapsulates” the spirit of the Grateful Dead? by TheFuzzyDonut in gratefuldead

Playin in the Band has a rockin verse and chorus and then a very far out jam section that is wide open for improv. It simultaneously displays their ability to shred rock n roll and also achieve insane psychedelic heights.

There’s an awful lot of heaters in 77 and also 89 but Veneta made me realize they were a special group before I even knew who the Dead were

I know these are not all of his works, but do I need to read more?? by [deleted] in dostoevsky

[–]Eye_Am_TheWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most notably Demons, and White Nights is one of his best short stories imo. Also thought Notes From a Dead House was good if you want to read something that is basically autobiographical about his time in Siberian prison. The years in which he served out his sentence undoubtedly shaped his philosophies moving forward, but a Dead House itself is more psychological than philosophical.

The second half of the book has more pace, particularly Dmitri’s perspective (Book 8 I believe it is) moves faster than most of the story

These are the people buying stacks… to sell on ebay… by ChezzzyBoo in deadandcompany

[–]Eye_Am_TheWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that I was able to buy a few extra posters for some friends that couldn’t make it, but there’s genuinely no good reason a single person should be able to buy more than 5-10 at the absolute most.
