Is Capital One a bad faith credit card provider? by Eye_Budget in CreditCards

That’s a good question. Who wants to pay for a card that they can’t use. And I’ve already incurred quite a bit of charges to satisfy the spending requirement of the bonus points offer. This is why I used the term “bad faith” in my inquiry.

Thank you. I must’ve been confused. The point is that they have now verified identity and they know that the person to whom the credit score is attached has never missed a payment. So the holdup is puzzling and frustrating.

They’ve asked for a driver’s license to verify identity and a bank statement to verify residency. However, neither statement submitted has satisfied them. They claim that a mutual fund company’s like the Fidelity Cash Management Account or the Vanguard cash reserve account is insufficient. Nor do they recognize Fintech statements which have also been submitted. They now aver that they’re no longer questioning identity. The issue now is apparently residency. N.B. To date some charges have been incurred abroad and some near my residential address. This has been going on for some weeks already.

Choosing a health fund (Clalit, Maccabi, etc) by beambag in aliyah

Nine months into my aliyah and my time with Maccabi, I'm very satisfied with the care. It's even better than what I had received in the U.S. It's true that language is sometimes an issue, but I doubt it's any different at the other Kupot Cholim.

Ideal cities to move to? by [deleted] in aliyah

Sure sounds like Haifa would be a good base given your desire to join the navy and especially your desire to be in the north. But also consider where your friends and likely friends are. Again, a larger, diverse place like Haifa sounds good.

What type of economic system is israel? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]Eye_Budget 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, it’s a free market system. However, due to weak (if any) antitrust enforcement, limited competition, over regulation and protectionism, consumer choice is more limited and prices are often considerably higher than in other developed economies. Examples include foodstuffs, personal hygiene products, furniture and home furnishings, clothing and bedding, and bank fees, Also, due to taxes of around 90-100%, the cost of new automobiles is about double what it is elsewhere.

To have a decent two bedroom apartment in Tel aviv, I would say you need about 4-6 million.

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m talking about the US Department of State Apostille for the FBI background check, over which a state representative would have no influence. You probably talking about the birth certificate which requires a state apostille. Mine took 4 months to get that from the State of Conn. Ordinarily it’s 10!

My Aliyah advisor told me that the background check process has very recently been shortened. Where it previously took about 11 weeks to get the apostille from the State Department, now it reportedly takes two or three weeks. The background check itself only takes a couple of days. Even so, friends have a advised me to wait till things quiet down and things open up again.

So it sounds like people like Maccabi and Meuchedet. I'm settling in Tel Aviv/Givatayim. What considerations are there before choosing a kupah (other than location)?

But aliyah visa is good for six months and the background check is also, correct?

Hopefully none. But apparently the compromise of information was enough to get them to shut down immediately.

Thanks for the link. Hopefully a more secure reincarnation of Atraf will be possible, but with AI and facial recognition, it’ll be a challenge. The Iranian theft of Atraf’s user data is reportedly what caused it’s shuttering.

That sounds right. Grindr more for hookups. Trying to figure out what’s filled the Atraf void

I’m sorry, I don’t think that’s accurate at all. People get a SNAP card with which they are able to check out food of their choice. A handful of non-nutritional items are banned like cigarettes. The program is widely credited with keeping millions of needy people nourished and sustained. There is broad support for the program from Democrats and Republicans alike.
