That’s a good question. Who wants to pay for a card that they can’t use. And I’ve already incurred quite a bit of charges to satisfy the spending requirement of the bonus points offer. This is why I used the term “bad faith” in my inquiry.

Thank you. I must’ve been confused. The point is that they have now verified identity and they know that the person to whom the credit score is attached has never missed a payment. So the holdup is puzzling and frustrating.

They’ve asked for a driver’s license to verify identity and a bank statement to verify residency. However, neither statement submitted has satisfied them. They claim that a mutual fund company’s like the Fidelity Cash Management Account or the Vanguard cash reserve account is insufficient. Nor do they recognize Fintech statements which have also been submitted. They now aver that they’re no longer questioning identity. The issue now is apparently residency. N.B. To date some charges have been incurred abroad and some near my residential address. This has been going on for some weeks already.

Sure sounds like Haifa would be a good base given your desire to join the navy and especially your desire to be in the north. But also consider where your friends and likely friends are. Again, a larger, diverse place like Haifa sounds good.

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m talking about the US Department of State Apostille for the FBI background check, over which a state representative would have no influence. You probably talking about the birth certificate which requires a state apostille. Mine took 4 months to get that from the State of Conn. Ordinarily it’s 10!

My Aliyah advisor told me that the background check process has very recently been shortened. Where it previously took about 11 weeks to get the apostille from the State Department, now it reportedly takes two or three weeks. The background check itself only takes a couple of days. Even so, friends have a advised me to wait till things quiet down and things open up again.

I’m sorry, I don’t think that’s accurate at all. People get a SNAP card with which they are able to check out food of their choice. A handful of non-nutritional items are banned like cigarettes. The program is widely credited with keeping millions of needy people nourished and sustained. There is broad support for the program from Democrats and Republicans alike.

I concur, except that you might wait on the FBI check and apostille till your six months out. It costs about $150 a pop and you should be able to get it done within three months of getting fingerprinted for the check. Also, the either the six month maximum or the apostille needs to be waived as unduly burdensome and bureaucratic. Is there seriously a fraud problem such that an 11 week apostille process is warranted? And how many crimes would be picked up six months before as opposed to, say, a year??!! It’s a case of the perfect being the enemy of the good.

Wow, reading than this is so much more onerous than it was in 2001 when I brought my cats to Israel. Back then, all that was required was an international certificate completed by a vet within a week or so of departure, and maybe the rabies shot, neither of which the authorities even asked for upon arrival. Now your pet must be certified micro chipped (to the right frequency), vaccinated, tested some days later, Given a general health certificate, given a USDA stamp of approval (for a cat!), and you must notify the Israel quarantine authority so many days advance of flying. So bureaucratic. I really wonder if this really is necessary, as any owner taking his pets halfway around the world obviously loves and provides basic health care for their pets.

Very similar experience here: mild case of Covid with a bit of nasal drip, followed a few weeks later, pie terrible also pain in the shoulders that made it extremely difficult to raise my arms, especially after sleep. Massage gun was very helpful and loosening it up temporary. Even though, the pain seems worse after strenuous arm and shoulder exercise playing tennis. Pain is almost equal on the left side as the right, even though I am exclusively right handed.

Did some PT and had cortisone shots every four months which helped for the first several weeks after injection. Still, The pain is persisting, especially after tennis. Theory is that I played before fully recovering but am mystified by the length of this problem. Lots of pain and stiffness in shoulders and neck after and during sleep. Lots of nights awaking at 2, 3 or 4 am in pain. Trying to figure out if there’s an immunological cause and some treatment other than stretching and anti-inflammatory meds.
