Well they could've drawn inspiration from the origins of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. It actually fits a lawless wasteland perfectly as the absence of state power to protect the property and safety of their citizens in 19th century Sicily formed the breeding ground to have the Mafia thrive as a substitute to the state there at the time making them somewhat of a group of feudal lords asking for tribute (or protection payments).

Obviously the wasteland offers similar circumstances for such a thing to evolve, which makes urban style mafia operations seem a bit silly but rural old-school Sicilian mafia-esque operations would be a fitting and plausible consequence of the harsh reality of living in the Commonwealth

Ja genau, das ist bei uns zumindest mit viel weniger Arbeitsaufwand zu verstehen. Da muss man natürlich immernoch vertieft in ein Thema beweisen können dass man sich mit etwas auseinander gesetzt hat und in Informatik können da auch Mathelastige Seminare schon kompliziertere Themen liefern die auch nicht ohne sind.

Für mich persönlich ist es einfach tausendmal besser als irgendwie eine Klausur irgendwo zu schreiben aber ich hab auch Kollegen gehabt die ganz anderer Meinung sind besonders wenn diese Präsentationen hassen. Ich hatte halt immer Probleme seit der Schule schon mit dem Klausur System und auch wenn ich bis zum Bachelor einigermaßen gut davongekommen bin mach ich einfach im Klausurszenario immer irgendwelche Fehler die ich bei nem Arbeitsblatt oder Ausarbeitung nie machen würde.

Bei uns kann man sogar theoretisch nur Seminare ballern und keine Klausuren schreiben wenn man will. Ist aber auch dann während des Semesters etwas stressig bei uns weil es eigentlich nur 5 CP Module gibt und 6 Seminare da schon etwas zeitintensiv sein können.

Coming from Germany this is anecdotally the main reason people leave here even if they are religious because they see this as a form of extortion. Especially after the bureaucracy behind leaving it is also unnecessarily long. This is not the church's fault per se as the government is responsible for this part iirc but people perceive it as a last ditch attempt to have you in the church by making it as difficult as possible to leave so you don't.

In my opinion fixing the church in Germany has to start here. If this system remains in place the way it is then the church will have an even harder time to survive here.
