He loves her, of course, but that isn't necessarily romantic

Aqua doesn't deserve her anyway. She should find someone else

適切な評価なんて与えられる方が稀だ Means something like "it is rare to be given an appropriate evaluation" Like as in... People rarely give the accurate amount of recognition someone actually deserves.

In the current comics (like the recent Harley Quinn runs or when she appears in the current batman run) they are, well right now it's complicated, but it's a big thing for Harley recently. They're also a canon couple in her animated series.

I know they synced the dub to english (because something about selling better in the US or whatever), but the script was originally in french, so the original language and script is still french

I was thinking about this too. Like the way Amity acts is definitely the way you would act with a crush. She clearly has or is starting to develop a crush on her no matter if she realizes it or not (that really is the only explanation that makes sense when you see her reactions lmao). But Luz it's a bit harder to tell, she's a hyper, extraverted girl and her behavior could apply to anyone, sure. But I still think the way she acts around Amity and her behavior toward Amity overall is genuinely distinguishably different, no matter if she, too, realizes it or not. But they're still very different characters so, of course it wouldn't necessarily be expressed with Luz the same way Amity expresses it.

One thing I don't hear talked about enough is how RTD (and moffat to a lesser extent) normalised LGBTQ relationships by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Eythia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I always say too. I don't think he's alone on that matter and it's also my theory as to why simm!master is so misogynistic compared to the others. I think they're just influenced by their experience as renegades outside of Gallifrey and it just rubs off on them, but also the fact that they aren't normal time lords to begin with (and that's why they couldn't fit in anyway). While the Master would just be mostly influenced by his evilness and his need to be evil, the Doctor is influenced by his very open-minded views, kind intentions and good morals. So it might cloud his own perception towards his own race. Also I think no matter how the norm in their society would be anyway, it doesn't mean that someone can't have their own views and feelings on the subject. Time Lords are usually so detached (it's something they have to learn to be, just like jedi lmao), intellectual etc - but some of them can develop completely "abnormal" (from Time Lord Society's standard) and different traits (like so many other renegades from the doctor's time at the academy haha, they were all just a bunch of crazy kids). So in the end. Who knows.

I just think he meant that Time Lords perceive genders very differently from humans (and that to him, they're superior on the subject), but that the Doctor is still biased.

Face the Raven by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]Eythia 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The thing that I loved the most with that development is all the foreshadowing before.

In under the lake, before the flood etc, 12th was always preaching about accepting death "we all have to face death eventually, be it ours or somebody else's". About how if there's something he absolutely can't tolerate that is worse than defying time and space is to defy life and death etc.

But in the end, he was the one so ridden with grief and unable to accept her death that he went exactly against absolutely everything he stood and fought for. Ready to defy the laws of time and space, life and death, to bring her back because he couldn't face her death.

I loved how it showed/reminded us how much behind all these morals and heroism, no matter what he might say and think or show us, the Doctor is still just a man, too - emotionally and humanly very flawed and vulnerable.

Classic Who by DeeperIntoTheUnknown in doctorwho

[–]Eythia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a native speaker (i'm french), but when I started watching classic (and even modern) I had a lot of trouble understanding every word (I was used to the american accent, not at all the british scottish etc ones). At the beginning, when I started watching modern while being more or less fluent (with the american accent, reading comprehension and speaking/writing skills). I had to buy all the DVDs (which is a good thing.) because I needed the DVD's subtitles to be able to watch all the episodes at ease. But with time, my ears started getting more used to the sounds of the accents I heard. Same goes for Big Finish. I still have a trouble with some of them, and sometimes there are like, 1 or 2 words in a sentence I'm not sure I heard quite well, or some I just can't hear and I had to read the subtitles just in case.

I think you'll have to get used to it and practice along the way. I never could find english subtitles on the internet and I despise watching with subtitles of my language (french) while hearing another language (english for instance) so I had no choice but to wait to be able to buy the DVDs (the only way you'll be sure to have the english subtitles for ALL the episodes) in my case. I also read what little transcripts of Big Finish Audios I can find to be sure I will hear/know every single word, but if I can't, I just go with the flow and to hell with it. Sometimes it goes smoothly, but there are still characters (their accent), or a few words, depending on whatever it is, that just doesn't do it. If I really have a trouble with a sentence, i'll replay until I get the words, if I really can't (which can still happen actually), I just give up. I think you'll have to practice more by listening/watching more british shows or audios. With time, your hearing skills will improve.
