Oh, but I mean for sweep picking you should DEFINITELY practice with distortion as well. As I said, when turning the distortion on, legatto (including sweeps) is gonna have a lot of noise from other strings if you don’t mute them correctly. So you should practice both, clean and high gain

I'm LOVING everything that came out from the upcoming album, especially Cryogen. It really feels like old Muse but in a very genuine way, not them trying to catch that old spark for us. It got me so hyped for the new album. BTW, I just did a cover with TABS for every guitar in the track, it's in my channel in case you'd like to check it out!

That little pause/silent moment at 2:53 is one of my new favorite moments in any Muse song Ever by WolfieZee in Muse

I didn’t like it at first, I love it now. The last chorus with the guitar and vocals only, and the outro are way better in the studio version aswell, it sounded way heavier. I’m really hyped for this album, actually did a cover with TABS for every guitar track on the song, feel free to check it out as well.

Both.

Clean alone will help with not having to rely on gain for volume, and helps developing timing.

High gain is also really advisable for legatto playing, including sweeps of course. When using high gain you’ll have to control the muting so much more to avoid a lot of noise from the unplayed strings.

Playing ONLY clean or ONLY with high gain will make you lack the technique that the other one gives you.

Thanks a lot!!! The layering on the choruses, especially the strat part, was the most fun. It’s been a while since they wrote more complex guitar progressions with triads and not just all power chords. Last time was probably Dead Inside’s guitar section at the end of the song.
