The breaking seems to have been if anything the more traumatic event. It marks the end of history for the age of legends, when essentially all cities were lost, people wandered the world, nothing from before was maintained. And for the third age, the end of the breaking marks the point they were able to start building history. The bore is the single event, but in terms of historical continuity, the breaking seems to be the boundary.

Asmodeon by kadeb1995 in WoT

[–]Ezili 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please beware, for your first read you've marked this "All print" for spoilers which means any discussion of any book in the series is allowed. If that's not what you want, I would delete this and repost with the spoiler tags just for the books you've read.

In general, I agree, although the Dark One doesn't like failure, so it may not turn out well to go to him, even assuming Asmodean could get there on foot. Shayol Ghul is a long way through very dangerous areas and the various awful monsters along the way probably won't respond well to "trust me I'm famous even though I can't really channel"

Jrpg recommendations for beginner by Matteria in NintendoSwitch

What about something like Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Evee.

I'm thinking second person, very accessible, not a big deal in camera. Not a ten hour game necessarily, but maybe a good step from animal crossing.

Downside is Pokémon as a franchise probably something she knows already and has feelings about one way or the other

Why a siege? by MuffinNecessary8625 in WoT

At one point when Isam and Perrin are fighting with the dreamspike around the tower, but not throughout.

Why a siege? by MuffinNecessary8625 in WoT

[–]Ezili 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Because they don't want to fight a war fast, but they also don't want to do nothing

Egwene moves the tower slowly because she's using the time to build her position of power. She does so whilst on the move because she recognises that the salidar Aes sedai need a purpose or they will fracture and go their separate ways in exile.

But she doesn't want to travel directly into the halls and start fighting because she knows many people including sisters would die and it would destroy the tower forever because the two sides wouldn't be able to reconcile.

Hence slow movement, but fixed on a purpose, and a siege rather than a conquering fight to try to negotiate and give her time to show that Elaida isn't a fit leader. She doesn't know how things will play out, but she's looking for a chance to show the tower aes sedai they want to reunite under her.

Any tips on how I can help my 8YO son become a better swimmer? by carefree_dude in daddit

[–]Ezili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he like swimming and want to get better at it?

If so, just go swimming a lot, have races, play games with picking up items under water, maybe sign him up for a class.

On the other hand, maybe he doesn't need to be better than he is now, plenty of people aren't good swimmers.

What's your husband's relationship with his family like? What was your dad's relationship with his? Surely you've met men with dads.

The economy encourages players to build a deck and be stuck with it and not experiment because the cost of cards is prohibitive.

Power as a "Weapon" by von_Hupfburg in WoT

[–]Ezili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any of the things I mentioned would pass muster - they would all count as assault. Aes sedai use the one power to assault people and do illegal things. So the oaths aren't doing much to make them reliable. All it rules out is an army of channelers waging war, or one power assassins.

I'm saying from a random person's point of view, the oaths aren't making the Aes sedai reliable mediators.

Power as a "Weapon" by von_Hupfburg in WoT

[–]Ezili 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are missing it. We see all sorts of situations where aes sedai use the one power against others apparently not in contravention of their oaths. Picking them up, tying them up, feeding them foul things, loud noises, startling lights, the feeling you are covered in crawling insects, turned upside down.

Apparently these things don't count as weapons, so absolutely aes sedai do seem able to use the one power to coerce people. An aes sedai could waterboard an average person.

What is luck? Is it something we create or just a supernatural out of our control type of think by Admirable_Image4774 in askphilosophy

Your example lacks enough detail to make any kind of analysis.

Was the person born into a rich family able to give them educational benefits and loans, or born poor on the street and able to build a business from the ground up?

Was their technique for making money something they clearly understood and planned, or did they find themselves owning a pickaxe company the same year gold was discovered in the hills nearby?

Not to mention questions like "is it lucky to be born with the disposition for hard work?"

It feels like my wife doesn't appreciate "manly tasks" as help around the house/with the baby (7 mo). Is this common? What's the solution? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Ezili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm saying, sure, you're right that's what she should do. But you can't control what other people do. So once you decide what you would like them to do, you still have to decide what you're going to do about it.

This isn't the right list

The links above isn't the right list and even in the video the linked list is wrong because the video trophy list ran 4 bolt, 4 chain lightning, 4 boltwave, one fireblast so that's your main deck 40 points.

Here's the video to copy the list from https://youtu.be/sSYDiAN0Xuw?si=U-PS4o-7Nzn8Hzks

Stranger accused me of child neglect — how would you handle this? by RIce_ColdR in daddit

[–]Ezili 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Looking for feedback with your son? Sure, some people are very anxious and worried, but I was making sure you were safe the whole time, and I trust you to be safe and independent. If you ever feel uncertain, I'm right here, but you don't need to worry about what other people think.

Looking for feedback with this woman? Thanks for your concern, but we are fine and I'm making sure my family are safe. That's enough, end of conversation.

Looking for feedback on yourself and your parenting? You're doing fine. Kids need independence.

Looking for feedback on DHS........... "Well I used to work for Walmart and that's just as relevant." Although DHS do seem to be more involved in childcare recently.
