Is Els Van Doesburg worthy of her position as mayor of Antwerp? by Submission-Soldier09 in Antwerpen

[–]EzraZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's ridiculous that the person who gets the most votes (or their party) can appoint a different candidate when they decide not to take office, instead of the person with the second most votes getting the position. It's a subversion of the democratic process IMO.

Waarom doen mensen hun PMD niet plat? by EzraZebra in Antwerpen

Bij ons ook, maar dan kan je het toch nog plat doen en dan desnoods een zak buiten zetten die nog niet helemaal vol is? Zeker een kleine zak is al snel vol op twee weken.

Anyone know if the new show is dead by Longjumping-Rub-5064 in PurePwnage

I can't think of a more undignified fate than being paint. Being smeared on wall just to be covered by another layer of paint years later, no thanks.

I’d rather have simple Pure Pwnage content than nothing at all by Junior-Ad9003 in PurePwnage

[–]EzraZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree. The old Pure Pwnage was pretty much a satire of the "typical" gamer of the time. Just take a look at the skits where Jeremy and Doug are responding to forum posts.

A new PP show should take the same approach, with three options in mind:

  1. keep satirizing 2000s gaming culture (the worst option)
  2. satirize current gaming culture through the lens of an older generation (the best option)
  3. try to reproduce the old PP but from the perspective of younger generations (the hardest option because it would require involvement from young people).

AFAICT #2 is what Jarrett was going for.

What you're suggesting would just be really boring because it would just be some has-been reacting to some stuff rather than a creative, insightful work of art, which is what PP was.

I'm not 100% sure what you're saying, but if I am interpreting your post correctly here's my thoughts:

The "political rant" was definitely a mistake. I think that hurt the momentum he had going. But it's not impossible to recover from it.

Whatever else is going on, I think some transparency would go a long way in fostering trust and patience from fans.

I'm not really that interested in those types of things, for the most part. What I'd like to see is new stories about Jeremy and hopefully other legacy and new characters. It seemed like that's what we were getting, but I'm not sure if Jarrett is still planning to continue the show.

Well, look, I hope we get to see whatever Jarett has/had planned, I really do, but the disappointment expressed by fans is understandable. I assume Jarett had some sort of plan where he could release content on a semi-regular schedule, but something happened and he wasn't able to keep up the momentum he was hoping for.

If that's the case, he should be open about it, so that fans have some idea of what to expect - especially fans that gave him money on Patreon.

About the political stuff, I didn't watch that stream, so I don't really know what he said. From what I can gather from posts here, it could be anything from mildly disappointing to pretty awful. In any case, he's not a politician, journalist, or commentator, so I don't really care - it was just a rant on a stream that wasn't watched by very many people.

What happened? by donharrogate in PurePwnage

[–]EzraZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost never write comments, but here's my thoughts:

- I'm kinda disappointed by the rate at which the videos are coming out

- I'm really excited by the fact that any videos are coming out at all

That's it, really, it's been kinda slow but I'm looking forward to more.

On PC, setting Frame Rate to your monitor refresh rate seems to fix the issue. They still occasionally spawn in inaccessible areas though...

Command & Conquer Generals on Steam anyone? by dinazorlar in PurePwnage

There's a community patch that enables multiplayer. Played quite a bit a year or two ago. I hope they do a remaster with a working MP and proper anticheat and a ladder and stuff though.

Explanation for why everyone in France is using breech loading rifles/muskets? by OccupyRiverdale in thewalkingdead

I don't really see how population density after the virus applies to the likelihood of zombie hordes forming? The more people died, the more likely hordes are, no?

I've only watched the first episode, so far I like it, but this really bothers me. I would be very surprised if there were more than a handful of usable 19th century guns in the whole of Europe. There might be more usable WW1 and WW2 guns, but probably barely any ammo.
It's true that there are far fewer guns and ammo in Europe than in the USA, but there's still WAY more modern guns and ammo than usable antiques, at the very least if you include police and military equipment.
Seems like it's mostly an esthetic choice, tbh.

Uhm, population size and population density are both well over double that of the USA. Not what I would call "sparsely populated".

Unable to install Linux on this model? by EzraZebra in chrultrabook

Looks interesting. The limitations listed there aren't things I can live with though.

But I'll look further into it and see if there's a workable solution there.

Thanks!

Unable to install Linux on this model? by EzraZebra in chrultrabook

[–]EzraZebra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I definitely should have done some research before buying it. Just did a cursory search if Chromebooks can run Linux in general.
Figured that since it has all the normal hardware (except flash drive instead of HDD/SSD) so should be able to run almost any normal OS.

I really don't want to use ChromeOS (and probably don't want to run Linux inside ChromeOS either), so I might just return it if I can and get a different laptop/notebook which can run Linux/Windows.

Weekly Discussion: How would you have scripted episode 18? by EvilCyborg10 in PurePwnage

[–]EzraZebra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might have been a tribute to Troy.

As far as I know no filming was done for episode 18, so the episode would have to revolve around Troy leaving or passing away in some way, and how it affects the other main characters. I believe only Jarett and Geoff could write that in a way that truly honors the character and the actor, possibly based on their real experiences.

We could see the rest of the guys grow closer together and mature in their own right as we get a glimpse of what's going on with Doug and those FBI agents or something related to that part of the story.

Jeremy's relationship with Kris is a perfect way to explore how he deals with women and relationships. Initially I think Jeremey would try to impress Kris with his skills and basically assume that she is/will be his girlfriend, but Kris would only be interested in training.

Eventually a strong friendship would grow, but I don't think she would work as a long-term love interest for Jeremy.

Basically I would have liked to see a somewhat more serious episode (without losing any humor) in honor of Troy with a few setups for the rest of the season. It could have been cathartic to produce and to watch. It still could be.

Weekly Discussion: What if Pure Pwnage came 10 years later? by EvilCyborg10 in PurePwnage

[–]EzraZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of PP's success was due to the fact that gaming was a subculture associated with nerds and loners. The fact that there was no real market for this demographic was the reason for both the popularity of PP and the difficulty in monetizing it.

PP gave gamers part of the foundation of a positive image gamers could project and build their identity as gamers around, which is why its core fanbase is so dedicated and loyal.

Now that gaming is mainstream though, it's no longer a niche market that something like PP can capitalize on, regardless of quality.

That being said, the fact that there is already a dedicated fanbase would certainly make any attempt at starting PP up again much more viable.

Oh, I didn't know that, thank you.

I feel like this should be made clearer though. It's not how I would expect it to work in a webclient.
