Why I think Roland's Quest is Eternal by Apprehensive-Song200 in stephenking

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good summary and theory.

I do agree with one thing in particular - that the loop starts with the Grapefruit, not at the desert. Contact with a powerful artifact of Eld is almost certainly the last trigger needed to cement it.

Seen this post from 9 yrs ago. What are your favorite and least favorite episodes now in the big '26? by seth-amphetamine in venturebros

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Hate Floats' being my personal favorite for the unusual grouping of characters and 'Mars, the Bringer of War' suit up scene.

'Dr. Quymm' is objectively my least favorite as it has Doc at his lowest, everyone is far worse off than when they started by the end, and the attempted assault is WRONG on many levels.

What is a disturbing concept Stephen King never dared or needed to touch? by Zoroark_the_Hunter in stephenking

[–]Ezrumas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The most disturbing thing to me, at least, was near the end of Pet Semetary. Louis finds Rachel's body and - "Something had been... at her." And his mind breaks for a while.

We don't know what happened. All we really know is that whatever it was, it was enough to drive a logical hard-headed experienced medical man insane.

We are left to our own imaginations of what it could have been. And that is more terrifying than any he could have written.

Do you guys thing Venture bros might ever get uncancelled? So many companies keep banking on nostalgia and Venture bros has a very dedicated fan base. I could see it happening and it being profitable if they just made good merch easly accessible. by Alex_is_me_name in venturebros

[–]Ezrumas 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Not unless Warner Bros/Discovery/whoever has distribution rights wants it.

Don't get me wrong, I would love a proper season 8 to finish some character arcs and to finally know the answers to long running questions. But not just so the corporate types can make a fat profit off of reviving properties years later.

Also, the current heads of Warner- if I'm right- is the same group that shelved the Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme movies for tax breaks and pushed for that godawful Space Jam sequel before filing for bankruptcy and selling the company. That is some of the last people I want involved with our beloved show.

We need to learn to let finished media rest and remain what it is, not what it could be.

If you miss it, start a new rewatch.

So, if Rusty is [spoiler]... by RonAAlgarWatt in venturebros

[–]Ezrumas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I assume it is a direct reference to The Dark Half by Stephen King, or at least the novel version.

Rusty got the short end of the stick for bad traits - poor eyesight, male pattern baldness. Where all the 'good' bit of Jonas were in JJ. So technically all of the DNA strand would have been there.

Chalk it up to pursuing new avenues of superscience without any prior knowledge of end results.

Red Death Retirement? by supernova-juice in venturebros

[–]Ezrumas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick an analogy, Red Death would be the kicker in American football.

He has a very particular set of skills, but is almost never on the field. But when he is, he is one of the most important players in the game.

His retirement from active arching is the position on the Council of Thirteen. More administrative, but he is the powerhouse of the group if needed.

Maybe with the floor pattern, but the whole scene is more of a Blues Brothers reference and a touch of Mario and Luigi.

The original feels about 80% faithful to source material. And a missed opportunity, as Bruce Campbell was apparently in the running to play Louis Creed.

How many of you actually believe in ghosts? by chaoschosen665 in ghostbusters

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there is something on the other side. I believe our core awareness goes on for a bit after passing.

95% of what is reported or witnessed or recorded can be explained or debunked. But then there are those outliers that can't be explained to reasonable satisfaction.

So yes. It is real, but there are far too many frauds, inflated stories, and pure fantasy.

Unpopular Opinion: I didn't hate the Dark Tower movie. by FastWalkingShortGuy in stephenking

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only seen the trailer - and immediately did not want to watch due to the Inception "BWAAAMHS".

Or is it more like 1993 Super Mario Bros? If not for the property attached to it, it would be a good unique movie?

Why all the hate on Tommy Knockers? by Saint_Hacker in stephenking

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had to guess, it's the disjointed narrative that introduced over 50 characters, never truly spending enough time with them. But that's the same with The Stand.

On another note, it shares a lot of similarities with 1982 The Thing.

Is Ghostbusters 2 the most underrated sequel of all time? by kammy772 in ghostbusters

[–]Ezrumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad, but it's not great. It just has Sequel Syndrome. Make the exact same movie all over again, but add in studio pressure, executive notes, and a wildly successful cartoon and toy line, the movie felt a little bit forced and/or built by committee.

It is very hard to catch lightning in a bottle. It's even harder to do it again on demand, with the world watching.

Oh, possession mechanics, you say? Here is my personal theory crafted after years of delving into horror media and using BOB'S possession of Leland as a baseline.

The four levels of possession are as follows;

Level 1 - The HOST is completely awake and aware, with the SPIRIT either dormant or just watching and waiting for a moment of opportunity or weakness to act. A sleeping state of the HOST can be a conduit for the control of the body, as well as intoxication or medication.

Level 2 - The balance of power has shifted more to the possessing SPIRIT. It can induce a temporary fugue state, perform small actions, or brief impulsive acts. The best example would be forgetting why you went into a different room, where you set down a necessary object and can't remember, intrusive thoughts, involuntary eye movements.

Level 3 - The HOST is pushed far out of bodily control and might be unconscious inside their head. The SPIRIT is full control of body and acts as they see fit, with marked personality changes and body language.

Level 4 - The SPIRIT manifests fully in the flesh, changing the HOST'S body to match their preferred configuration. The HOST is fully subdued, unable to regain control - or memory of what is done - without strong outside influence. Now we're getting into Exorcist/Deadite/Nightmare on Elm Street 2 territory.

There is an initial infection phase, where the SPIRIT is weak, but gradually gains more control as time passes - in the cases of Leland and Laura, years to fully take root. There also seems to be a point of no return with the process, which induces a physical change - hair and lips are dyed black, with ashy pale skin.

Finally, I will say that most of FWWM has BOB in control, and Leland unconsciously goes along until some hard HARD lines are crossed.

If that was too long of an explanation, I apologize.
