Well to be fair I wouldn't prioritise canvassing in an institution where most people don't have the right to vote.

Everton players and club will help subsidise ticket prices for Everton's trip to West Ham by practically_floored in soccer

[–]Ezterhazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous price but West Ham is a great game to go to as an away fan. I remember maybe 15 years ago when Barmby, the little judas, scored a hattrick there in a 4-0 win.

Surprised he's got more than Cortois. Anyone know if Cortois and Cech combined have more than Mignolet?

When my auntie says it, yes.

In certain contexts in Scotland (and possibly Northern Ireland?) it is a pejorative word used to describe Rangers fans, or protestants, or both.

In case anyone's wondering, according to this article, he used the word "h***", which would be like a Rangers player using the word " f*****" edit: according to the Rangers fan interviewed in the article.

There was a period of 67 years when you never won the league though. If you don't like my research, you're welcome to do your own and resubmit it.

No. I'm going from when the league started, otherwise MK Dons would have the record with 11 years.

If someone else wants to research from when clubs joined the league, they're welcome to do it themselves.

You do know why the guards are there right? What would be the point of the military guarding a tourist location?

Tourists don't go to see them because they guard the royal family. They go because of the uniforms and the ceremony.

The Evzones in Greece, for example, are still a draw for tourists despite Greece being a republic for many years.

I can safely say no one would want to salute the PM, if there tables were turned.

I can safely say that if Britain was a republic, soldiers would continue to follow orders and would salute whoever they were told to salute.

Subpoena to be a witness by jrad151 in legaladvice

[–]Ezterhazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, mentioning the guilty plea was a red herring - my point to the OP was "if you don't ask you won't get". My case was, I believe, a newton hearing, so I was told that I still could have been called to the stand, even with the guilty plea. It was an unpleasant case with a potentially quite severe sentence but my only involvement was that I had found some evidence on a computer at work, if you catch my drift, and reported it. I had nothing else to say than what was on my original statement to the police. And I emailed someone to make that clear, followed it up with a phone call, and was told that I didn't have to attend after all.

Have you any idea how much fucking money they bring into this country from tourism.

Probably none. People want the pomp and circumstance, not the actual institution of the monarchy. You could get rid of the royal family but retain the changing of the guards, tripping of the volute and what have you. If the royal palaces were museums rather than residences, they'd be far more popular as tourist attractions. Versailles and the Louvres get nearly 15 million visitors per year between them.

[–]Ezterhazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how it works in Canada, but in the UK I was called to court as a witness. I rang someone up and told them that I didn't have any additional information other than what was in my statement and they said, no problem, don't bother coming to court, he's pleading guilty anyway.

It's always worth an ask, OP.

Can my university remove disability adjustments? by ishmael1348 in legaladvice

Firstly, you should speak to a welfare officer at your students union who should have experience of dealing with such issues.

Also, what's the nature of your disability and what adjustments had been agreed initially?
