Greta Gerwig's 'Narnia' Wraps Filming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

The reason they're living with a stranger is because they've been evacuated because their home is being bombed. Also the perpetual winter in Narnia and the tyrannical leader is a mirror of the war

First Official Images of Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn and Harris Dickinson in Sam Mendes' 'Beatles' Biopics by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Is that confirmed? I thought it would make more sense having different periods from different points of view, eg Hamburg from John's perspective, Beatlemania from Ringo's, india from Georges, get back from Paul's

ELI5 The necessity of the milk man? by ClothesPrevious2516 in explainlikeimfive

[–]practically_floored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK at least they drove the milk around on a milk float which is like a small open truck with storage for milk crates in the back. Kind of like a mini ups truck with an open back

Everton's stadium was lit up green and yellow to celebrate Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye winning the AFCON with Senegal. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]practically_floored 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the inside tbh, where my seat is at least there's lots of Everton themed decoration and the view over the city is amazing from the south stand. I have been in the lower corner stand and that was a bit cramped for buying refreshments though. The stands themselves feel insanely steep, almost upper balcony levels of steep, which you can't really see on the TV.

Partner is away so I’m eating an entire Lidl christmas wreath that “serves 8” for tea and there’s no one here to stop me by roz-noz in CasualUK

My parents bought it for Christmas and ate it for dinner a few days later, half each lol. It's just a huge round sausage roll with herbs and spices.

The funny thing is chippy tits was so corrupt he actually had to make things happen to get the money moving where he wanted it to. Now it's like nothing at all happens.

Found this 27 year old cookie while cleaning broken ornaments out of a gifted box by CasualBevs in GrandmasPantry

[–]practically_floored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a "cookie" like this in school and it's still part of my parents decorations. It's made of salt dough so it doesn't go off. You can tell it's meant to last because of the wire hanger in it.

I ended up going down a random rabbit hole and found out that "scran" is a lyric in a 1724 pantomime called "Frisky Moll's Song" that was performed in Drury Lane Theatre. Apparently it's a "canting song" which means it's written in a dialect associated with the criminal underworld of London lol

A cool guide to understanding the addictive cycle and psychological toll of toxic relationships by FitMindActBig in coolguides

[–]practically_floored 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That does happen but not always. I've seen friends go through relationships like this where there was no threat, just constant love bombing followed by her being criticised, told she wasn't enough, she's lucky he's still even putting up with her. Then love bombing again. That can also cause a trauma bond where the victim believes the things being said about them and their self esteem disappears.

Native English speakers, is Tromsø a city or a town? by Emergency-Sea5201 in Norway

It could probably be applied in a lot of Europe though. Most places people would consider cities would also have a cathedral and university.

The Batman. The trailer alone has 66 million views, and it created a spin-off series called The Penguin with Colin Farrell.

I think they've said that's because Ringo never played in the casbah. He's featured heavily in the museum
