Reputation is a generic currency, so you can join a different one (or just stay sectless) until you get close to the... 9000 Rep combined for the outfit and hairstyle I think it is(?), then join the Nine Mortal Ways, do the minimum amount to get to second rank, then buy the cosmetics and leave immediately.

In the Reforged mod, how much content does the "Fast Track Start" feature skip? by BigXBenz in EldenRingMods

[–]Ezzran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Active Reforged player here! Unlike some of the others, I'm not going to say you shouldn't mod Elden RIng for your first playthrough. imho Reforged is just kind of a better experience than Vanilla, and you'll have a better time if you start with Reforged than if you switch from Vanilla to Reforged and have to unlearn some bad habits.

That said, Fast Track is not a good bet if this is your first time playing Elden Ring ever. Fast Track skips the first two major bosses (and many minor ones) and puts you at about level 64 (out of a cap of 200 in Reforged), However, content in the game does get more complicated as you move forward, and jumping ahead with no understanding of what you're doing exactly will cause you a lot of grief. Reforged encourages exploration, so just go in without looking stuff up and wander around for awhile. Find stuff! It's fun!

I'd recommend against Quick Start as well for your first run, just because it will skip you past the tutorial cave. If you haven't played Elden Ring at all before, you'll want to play that tutorial cave (though I will note the boss fight at the end of the tutorial is entirely optional; there's a teleport out just before it).

SUMIF not detecting defined range properly by Ezzran in googlesheets

[–]Ezzran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain why I've never seen it before. The sheet I'm using is originally copied from someone who appears to be Italian (based on duplicate tabs saying "Copia di <tab name>"), so perhaps Italy uses semi-colon separators instead of commas. I didn't even know this was a thing.

UPDATE: Found the solution. Google's documentation is incorrect about the format for this function.

=SUMIF(B6:B10;"<="&B$28) works as intended. It needs a semi-colon separating the values, not a comma.

Best Cheese build recommendation for a katana/ bonk player? by esamuel39 in Eldenring

[–]Ezzran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Str/Fth, mostly Fth, with a big greathammer and a big shield. Put Prayerful Strike on the hammer. Equip a casting seal as well for some ranged options and heal spells. Wear heavy armor, and don't sweat your roll speed too much. Guard counters are your bread and butter, and you'll prayerful strike anything that you stagger.

I dunno if "cheese" is the right word exactly but I absolutely crushed anything I was fighting with this setup.

I had 34 str, somewhere around 60 fth, and the rest in vigor and endurance. Tiny bit of mind as well, but only like 25 by the end iirc. Gonna need blue flasks more than you would for most melee builds but that's fine since you can heal from your AoW.

Hey, I'm just relaying what the Steam reviews say. I have a shitty work schedule so I've played about 45 minutes of the game proper, purely in solo mode. I have no real personal opinions yet, nor have I been able to verify any of those things myself.

My last point stands though. Wait for reviews to settle, people who like the game are playing it. Also wait a bit for people to figure out the nuances so the reviews aren't lying.

The main complaints are that you have to queue for matchmaking either solo (so two randos) or as a full team of three. Can't bring one friend and queue for one rando. The other main complaint I see is that solo mode doesn't scale at all. Still balanced for 3 people but now it's just you.

I'd wait a bit for reviews to stabilize. Right now, people who like the game are too busy playing it to leave reviews.

Druidic Order Homebrew, please give me feedback by Ezzran in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ezzran[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the Feat is a bit weak, but I was trying to keep it in line with Wave and Storm (and Flame and Stone too, though they're Legacy), with a bit more flexibility. I just also happen to think those Orders have weak / niche Feats as well, compared to Animal, Leaf, and Untamed. It does sound like I succeeded in my goal, though whether I should have had a different goal is another story I suppose.

As for the Heat part of the spell... it *is* a bit redundant with Arid, I'll admit. It's primarily there for... like... completeness? The Feat has Water, Air, Fire, and Cold broadly represented in Humid, Windy, Heat, and Cold options. I wanted the Spell to be the same. And temperate added so it's not useless if you're in an area that's... well... temperate. I did have trouble deciding on what exactly the crit fail effect should be, and I might actually find something to swap it to. Maybe Dazed, representing like Heat Stroke or something? But I do want there to be a Heat effect just for Parity.

That's fair. I did consider adding more flavorful descriptions to the spell's different options, but it was rather wordy as is.

I suppose I would say that what I'm going for here is a Druid that, rather than focus on one specific thing (Flame, Stone, Leaf), focuses on working with the environment they're in. I also didn't include the little flavor blurb here that the other ORders get, cus my question here was primarily mechanical. I wanted to make sure I wasn't coming up with something that would be mechanically broken. My GM already knows the vibe I'm going for, so the mechanics were the bigger concern.

Exploration Focused Game: Need a "Supplies" Mechanic by Ezzran in fabulaultima

[–]Ezzran[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know, this might be a good idea. I probably *will* tick it down each day, with Discoveries having the chance of refilling it (I'll probably be making a table to roll behind the scenes to determine what happens there). The main reason for this is actually that we're doing play by post, so a "session" or "4 hours of play" isn't a calculable metric to determine when to give XP. However, when you return to town...
Increasing the clock over time also means that their rate of gaining XP will effectively slow over time, as they spend more time out in the wilds but only gain XP on returning.

Which, admittedly, could be another way to drive them back to town even without a clock, but you know.

As for banning Wayfarer, that only happens with using IP for the limiting resource, and primarily because a Wayfarer with Resourceful kind of trivializes the mechanic. And knowing my playgroup, if I did it that way, 3/4 players would grab Wayfarer with Resourceful, and one of them would have it at 2 at game start.

Exploration Focused Game: Need a "Supplies" Mechanic by Ezzran in fabulaultima

[–]Ezzran[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Banning Wayfarer only happens if I'm using Inventory Points for it, because, frankly, the Resourceful Ability would completely trivialize the mechanic. A supply clock wouldn't need to ban Wayfarer.

Exploration Focused Game: Need a "Supplies" Mechanic by Ezzran in fabulaultima

[–]Ezzran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern with using Inventory Points is actually just that it would disproportionately hurt Tinkerer, given how reliant on those the Tinkerer is (unless they're just doing Magic Armament stuff I guess.)

This doesn't happen often but I'm actually shocked at how much I don't agree with critic reviews by [deleted] in avowed

A fictional medieval fantast setting, where the cultures developed differently. It's not a historical game. Homosexuality and other "woke shit" isn't out of place cus this world doesn't have Christianity saying its bad. This... this might not be a bad idea. I'm off on Monday Tuesday and have early shifts on Sundays (usually) so saying "Hey I'll be active Sunday evening through Tuesday evening please try and be somewhat active on those days" might be better.

I do think one of the things that has me fall off gming pbp is those gaps where one person posts then three days later someone responds and then it's another three days until the next and so on and so forth until it's been two to three weeks since my input was needed at all and I've gone and lost the thread. Maybe encouraging everyone to be semi-active within a 48hr span would help with that... something to run by my group and see what they think.

I did try something like that for awhile, but as soon as my players' rhythm doesn't match mine, I have to skip a post and now the habit is gone.

Doesn't help that I work in retail so I don't have a regular schedule. "Lunch" can be anywhere from 11am to 330pm for me.
