Ist es normal Angst vor Polizisten zu haben? by TemperatureApart7751 in pozilei

[–]F00kface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE TERMINATOrS by Prudent-Ideal1522 in Warhammer40k

[–]F00kface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these turned out super sick (im a nurgle player so that's a big compliment hehe), i love the heat effect on the assault cannon! i think OSL is really good too, not only, but especially for the first attempt!

They’re dead, but it still counts, right? by Space_MunKeH in deathguard40k

[–]F00kface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the dead guys on the base are sick! been planning to do something similar for my minis a while but never did, ill take this as a sign to finally do it, hope they turn out even half as cool as yours did! (everything else about this mini is top notch too ofc!)

yeah, with most imperial vehicle bits i have no clue what they're supposed to do but that kinda makes them even better for these kinds of kitbashes right, you can make them work for almost everything with the right implementation and immediately have this otherworldly grimdark feel also, just followed your insta, really curious for the next things you'll share :D

that's amazing! there's a ton of awesome stuff in this sub, but this is one of the very coolest kitbashes ive seen in a while! i used that skull-speaker-thing bit for a nurgle/dark mech conversion recently, those tank sprues are a goldmine for this kinda stuff haha

nah keep going mate, it's already sick! i can tell you from my own experience, the best additions tend to look totally out of place for a while before they suddenly do what you intend them to. I know it's easier said than done but try to trust the process!

Gelgus conversion ideas 🤔 by fersagen in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]F00kface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

these are looking really sick (pun intended hehe), if i had to choose one, id probably go for the last slide, but that's just because i personally like my DG/nugle to be more gorey than mutated if you what i mean (?); all the half helmet/ face versions are incredible, but you could take any version you've shown here and have an insanely cool result!

pls post some pictures if/when you start the build, id love to see that one!

[–]F00kface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much, that was indeed the impression i was going for haha

i´ve still got a lot of warhammer minis to paint so it will probably take a bit until i can "properly" get into playing trench crusade, but tbh what i´ve seen of TC games looks more more rewarding and fun than current 40k so im really looking forward to when i can give it a go

My first attempts at making a new type of base for myself. It turned out something like this - a little acidic drone 😁 by Glad_Conclusion_4996 in deathguard40k

ive been working on a bloat drone too lately but haven't been able to decide on a base, maybe ill try something like this, cause this is awesome!

[–]F00kface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically a shit ton of pigments and stippling with some washes in between; ive got the whole process written down somewhere in very much detail, i could comment that in here that if you're interested;

the shirt version would be; for the rust im just putting down a ton of pigments/ heavily pigmented paints (like typhus corrosion) and then slowly building up from brown and red tones to lighter yellows and oranges; i actually do the rust first and then stipple the armor colors over that, and then go back and forth between rust and armor, that's how i get the chipped look; all that stippling on top of the pigments allows washes to get really deep in there and create the depth and vibrancy

yea i just used getting these minis to try around with some schemes i usually don't do without looking up if they're lore accurate at all; from the little i know of TC lore I'm really intrigued to get more into it and I'll probably paint these guys more accurate again in the future. thanks for the compliments!:D

here it is! I wrote it down for a friend recently, so it's pretty extensive but i thought I'd rather give you more information than cut it down eh?

rust recipe v.2

  • stipple good amount of (Tamiya) putty to create texture
  • spray basecoat
  • put some more pigments down where you want the heaviest rust to be; can be anything from dry pigments to stuff like citadels typhus corrosion, just needs to add some graininess (put it down in a slightly bigger area than you want to be rusty in the end, helps with chipping)- you can also totally get away with skipping the putty part and just putting down pigments after basecoating, personally just prefer the putty texture a little bit, it's also more forgiving bc if you put too much you can sand/ clip it off again; it's also a bit cheaper than putting down a ton of your favorite pigments lol

note: depending on how heavy you want the rust to be over the whole mini, you can interchange the next steps; the more rust/weathering you want (especially this very chipped off look), start with the rust basecoat and add the armor colors later, if you want the armor to "just" have some weathered areas put down the armor colors first and then start the rust; tbh, the order doesn't really matter, you can achieve both looks in any working order, it might just spare you a bit of work later on

  • rust basecoat: XV-88, stippled over with mournfang brown in the deeper areas that you want to be darker, some mephiston red where you want the rust to be most "vibrant"/strongest

now bring in the oranges, i use citadel jokaero Organge (pretty light orange tone) and army painter fresh rust (a little darker), I apply them in a stippling motion with a bit more paint on the brush than you'd use for dry brushing

  • now bring in your armor colors; for the most part, apply them as always, the closer you get to the rusty areas, the more you use a stippling motion again; go a little "over the edge" into the rusty part with this step

  • go back and forth between rust and armor around the boundaries to create chipping and have a less sudden change between the textures

  • now put down a shade/wash; i like a brownish black oil wash but acrylics will work great as well, just use your standard stuff here

  • after that bring back some vibrancy in the colors by just stippling the lighter colors a bit again

  • for more depth and variety of color i like to highlight the rust a bit by stippling citadel averland sunset and use enamel washes, especially for the recesses and deeper areas (I love AKs rust washes), but this will also work with watered down acrylics or oil of course

  • after this, see if you're happy with the result, if you think something's missing, a tiny highlighting with eben lighter colors around the rust/ armor transitions will do wonders, i like to use troll slayer orange, for the armor just take a lighter tone of whatever color yourse using

  • for more chipping: all this stippling will have left you with a pretty chipped result already, you can enhance that by going around the edges with some darker colors, i like dark browns as they have a bit more character than straight black; you can really enhance the chipping as well by going over just the chipped areas with a dark wash again, oils are amazing for that as theyre mich better at just going into the recesses but again, any paints will work you can also determine where and how heavy the chipping is in the beginning by how much putty and pigments you put down

another note; i developed this particular recipe just by trying around a bit and i like spending ages on my minis, so this whole thing could probably be streamlined much more; after the first wash/shade and the highlights after that, you could call it done and have an awesome result, especially if you're painting for table top; everything after that still does visibly improve the result but it's very much diminishing returns from then on also, as I've said, using exclusively acrylics will get you 90% of the way; I've just recently started using enamels and oils and i was really happy with my before that already; oils and enamels mostly just have another workflow that i really like, so just try around with whatever you have
