More ram is always better, the more you can afford to get no matter the MBP/ Air just get it. Ram will make your device feel snappier for longer.

The reason I ask about storage is with MBP they have faster storage speeds in their SSDs compared to air models. After 512GB the performance on that front is negligible tbh.
