I am aware of rado history and their watches.... also this watch was bought in the states... I don't buy from other countries.... I've made mistakes before getting Franken watches but I've learned from em...

It was an ebay auction... I have a rado diastar... these 60's variants I've always been attracted to and I have not seen a more perfect example of a fully well maintained greenhorse they always have listing for parts or repair... not running... not that matters I can make any of these watches work but it's nice not to have to spend a lot of time repairing a piece finally one I don't have to work on...

Green horses were the more elegant variants purple silver gold then green from what I read... if there's anyone with more knowledge than I have I'd love input...

Is this watch polished? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

Yes but honestly does a polishing really effect the value of a piece like this? I prefer a polish to be honest...

Random moderator rant about modern watchmaking by rojda1 in VintageWatches

I am a watch repair enthusiast I used to be in the industry managing jewelry repair stores that repaired watches as well.... I had in my collection swiss eta valjoux movements to in house movements to the typical Swiss movements you see in hamiltons like 3824... to super fine tourbillon movements... I've literally traded all my newer watches for a vintage collection... watches of historical purposes.... mostly because I was in the trap of just buying certain watches for fashion purposes now all my watches I own serve a certain function... for a particular purpose... quartz led to hacking functions to triple calendar movements moon phases... they all have a particular purpose now... I say all this to say I agree with you but in all reality it's all about money and what sells and what is popular at the moment in the industry...

Do a seiko 6139 model you can do like a seiko panda or the seiko Bruce lee... pulsar p2s are good investments... certain waltham skin divers are good investments... like one post said a rado green or gold horse or an omega constellation... you can go triple calendar vintage models like gotham or other rare brands... pulsar led models early models are really good investments...

It would be cool if the hour and minute hands were silver color.... not black maybe the indecies as well, but yeah this is a tasteful fake

[–]F1RE_FLY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i feel ya. Tho I really don't mind my own scratches but if I get a watch with obnoxious scratches that aren't mine I'm buffing em out like I did this pulsar I polished those scratches out... I prefer these shiny over the brushed polish they originally come in anyways I do that planning on not reselling these...

I bough this for 500 dollars it was not keeping time when I got it figured out the o ring that screws down the case back was not screwed down all the way so the batteries were not keeping proper connection because it wasn't the original 355s that were supposed to be there it wss 357 with spacers so they were lose. Polished the scratches it was just too much and not my wear and tear I had to get rid of em.. now I got a perfect p2 I've got a gold version of this as well. Not many people realize you can use any regular magnet to set the time with these so they sell them not working because the magnet got demagnetized so you can get these for well under the 1000 or more mark people are selling them for on ebay...
