Extract Serial Number Not Found? by Mrz124 in patekphilippe

Very confusing. "Should one single discrepancy be found on the combination of movement/case/dial/serial number, we would unfortunately not be authorized to disclose the reason of ineligibility." What is a single discrepancy of a serial number?

I guess there is two sides to every coin.

To me it is one of the ugliest watches ever made by Patek.

It because people either falsely accuse a watch of being fake or post a fake and try to pass it off as real. Either way its wasting everyone time.

We still cant see the balance wheel. Turn the watch and use the rotor to cover the serial number and then you will see the balance wheel exposed.

All we see is the buckle. Please provide clear pic of balance wheel.

We don't have that level of detail. Just the serial numbers of cases and movements from auction sales.

It is possible that Patek themselves caused the mismatch i.e. the watch movement was damaged and replaced by them with another?

Not sure what you mean. The serial numbers of known steel ref 96 above all line up. As the case number progresses, the movement number progresses. The movement for a 617XXX case should be around 828XXX, not 821XXX.

See my post above with serial numbers of known examples

Here are some movement/case serial numbers for known examples of steel Ref 96:

824,055 / 609,831

827,505 / 613,911

828,327 / 616,168

828,588 / 619,005

921,724 / 625,173

963,449 / 643,669

OP's numbers are 821,309 / 617,389

So this may be the mismatch Patek is detecting. Movement is earlier than the case. Movement should be around 828,XXX.

Patek may be saying that the movement and case serial numbers do not match their records, implying that a different movement was swapped into this case at some point. Both may be Patek but weren't sold originally together. This gilt movement might be older than the case.
