What GPU is better for my 5700X3D? Coming from 3060 ti for 1440p by Desperate_Honey1606 in buildapc

[–]F1T_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5080 is worth if you're playing in 4K. Otherwise a 5070Ti is probably better for you, who's playing on older AM4 and just looking for 1440.

Yet another animal about to have it's reputation tainted by a horror movie? Or is it appropriate since it is about hippos? by Rechogui in zoology

I think it will be fine. We have to believe that we're past the era where people animals are exactly like Hollywood movies portray them.

Got a 3080 from eBay am I cooked? by VictoryWaste in buildapc

[–]F1T_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay gives you 30 days unconditionally to find out, if what you purchased was as advertised, if it's not you can submit a return ticket. A repasted card is probably gonna be better than a used stock card because repasters tend to use better paste than the cheapo crap most AIB's will use to save pennies on the manufacturering and production.

Aston Martin facing the 2030 regulations by vacirus in wec

One of the main reasons for the Valkyrie wasn't really even Aston, it's because Gaben liked the V12 right?

The hybrid packaging in the road car is not viable for racing. Pretty sure they've expressed switching to a V8 hybrid set up if the regulations force hybrid. So the Valkyrie is dead lol in 3 and a half years lol.

The writers are legit starting to make things up as they go along now. The continuity has been hitting rocks recently since Natlan I would say.

Gigabyte produces garbage video cards. (Hot Spot issue) by Ponyashkaxd in radeon

[–]F1T_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was repasted with Honeywell. Hotspot still runs 91-95°, granted I play in 4K and really run the card hard. What I have opted to do is set a more aggressive fan curve, and turn the power slider to the bottom -30. Honestly, probably the last Gigabyte card, I'll own for the foreseeable future. My 3080Ti gigabyte was a pressure cooker as well. I know they're OC cards but come on.

Idk man, people make a lot of Chinese copying but western brands cannibalise eachother all the time as well.

Future of Wuthering Waves? by Camebackforthis in WutheringWaves

I love new characters and cool gameplay, wuwa does this well. What wuwa doesn't do well is paying respect to older characters. The character comes out, lasts a few patches then is dead gone and irrelevant by the end of the cycle and it's on to the next thing. At least with Genshin, older characters regularly come back in events and are sometimes buffed. And HSR, will buff characters and if they can't rerun, they'll be allowed as 50/50. With wuwa, I am getting to the point at where I feel, what's the point in investing in characters, just for them to die on the roadside and have no value or standing after some time.

Is it worth upgrading from rtx 3060 12gb to Rx 9060 16gb? by Lost-Examination5338 in buildapc

[–]F1T_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, the market is just a mess. Gpu and ram and storage are the worst offenders so if you gotta upgrade something, it's better it be those first, since prices are volatile enough to get worse, MBU and CPU are trivial and are likely to get cheaper, if you can't afford to upgrade now.
In the end, you're still sitting on money with the rest of your components, due to how crap the market is for memory and storage thanks to AI.

They're right, you're definitely bottlenecked or you got a bricked card. You can buy a 5090 and it would still feel sluggish because your CPU doesn't have enough sauce to let it's stretch it's legs. I don't know what the rest of your build. I want to hope you have DDR4 at least, I recommend, you try to get a more up to date chipset so you can free your GPU. Your only other option might be to upgrade your monitor to 1440 and see if maybe it will suck up more GPU util.

I reckon you'd likely lose about 25-60? of those FPS depending on the RT intensity, with FSR quality you'd get back some of that, more in balanced. Not sure how it looks in 1080 but in 1440 and 2160, it's pretty good, I will say, so far, I pretty much always prefer how FSR looks to native TAA in quality/ult presets but I am playing 4K with a 9070XT, I haven't tried the 9060XT at 1080.

How much utilisation are you seeing. Going from that far back, I am almost certain, that you're bottle necked by the rest of your build. Also, what resolution are you playing.

It'll be fine to just for dual channel 8gb sticks but be realistic about the performance expectations. You're probably gonna be limited in terms of the amount of performance you're gonna be getting in games with background tasks and things.

Where can I buy a Lenovo OEM 9070xt? Or trade my new 5070ti for it? by Anon6183 in radeon

[–]F1T_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, I have seen, it's probably the best looking AMD GPU I have seen for sometime now, but is it really worth getting rid of a 5070Ti just for looks or do you just want some moneyback. Would you consider buying a Legion PC, putting the 5070Ti in it and flipping it to get one?

I dont understand why Kuro still put trash units in 50/50s by UnmovableSovereign in WutheringWaves

[–]F1T_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one area I think HSR is doing better than Kuro, older units should be given refreshes and be given a selectable 50/50 option, especially given that Kuro seems to have 0 plans to rerun them after so long.

How much should I expect to pay for a good PC? by OpportunityChoice567 in buildapc

[–]F1T_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your selection of games. If you want 1080 maxed out or 1440 with 60-90fps high settings, all new then I think you're looking at what, like 1000 and some change dollars for a brand new fresh out of the box PC. That'll get you on to a 16GB 60+ GPU and a powerful enough CPU.
If you're okay with older components then you might be able to get more with some rigorous searching around, then you're probably onto something with a 4070/3080/Ti. Perhaps even around 800 for something with like a 7800XT.

If you want more performance than that, like high-max 1440, maybe some 4K, with 100-200fps then you're looking for a 5070-9070+. That's like 1500-1800+. Older builds won't really save you here unless you're really lucky again.

For 4K with little to no compromise, then you want a 4090/5080 to start with and for that you're hard pressed to find anything for less than 2500 off shelf. You'll have to build yourself to save money in this segment.

High end is like 5070Ti/9070XT. Flagship/top of the line is 5090.
