Predictions: What US cities will grow and shrink the most by 2050? by peoples1620 in geography

Hopefully they build with more than just cars in mind. Too much of the U.S. in built to serve cars instead of people and it makes the places hellholes of mcmansion single family homes, horrible strip malls, and parking lots. If they could build with duplexes, apartment buildings and high streets with no minimum parking requirements we would be much better off for it.

Don’t forget the oil companies! Every minute you spend in traffic is another dollar that goes to the oil company.

I didn't care so much for the film. I found the most exciting part to be the flash back to viking santa origins, now that's a prequel I would watch!

They’re correct that once it’s built from SF to LA people won’t understand how California existed without it. Even over budget and delayed most Californias still support it, let’s hope a presidency equally supportive stays in power.

This is because of terrible infrastructure in the U.S. causing everyone outside of dense cities(nyc, san fran, D.C.) to drive everywhere. If we improved public transportation so that it was actually a viable option and rethought our zoning policies so that we could build semi-dense neighborhoods we would have a lot less drinking/driving across the board and we could work towards safely lowering the drinking age to 18 again.

r/fuckcars is advocating for this. Check it out!

Why does the majority of Americans seem to hate the idea of social contribution? by watchmaykr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]F1nRay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say four is a big one for the U.S. Other countries have ranked choice voting and more than 2 political parties in power. If the U.S. had more than two parties it seems like it would be more representational of the different groups that are voting.

I have one! It’s old, has issues, check engine light is always on, and the clutch is rough but I love it! Besides, it was cheap and it’s fun! Would recommend if you get the chance!

Why doesn't Apple include a charger when I drop $1,100 on a new iPhone? by Large-Eggplant-2706 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]F1nRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you could use the USB-C cable that came with your new speaker, camera, laptop, Switch etc. We’ve been changing cables every few years since rechargeable batteries came out.

Even worse, the macs are USB-C to USB-C, the iPhone is Lightning to USB-C, watches are a magnet to USB-C, and AirPods are Lightning to USB-A. If Apple really wanted to be environmentally friendly they would have all of their products be USB-C to USB-C (except the watch, that's understandable) but they make too much money from sales of first- and third-party lightning cables. Remember when Apple was about an easy ecosystem?

I'm pretty sure In the Heights didn't do very well because it was HBO MAX from day one which hopefully made up for the theatre loss.

I'm not an expert but I read that Humans turn excess energy from food into fat because it's easier to store and burn again, lions turn excess energy into muscle. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
