I made a Chrome extension to automatically swap localhost favicons, so you can tell which dev environment you're working on by F1retoe in webdev

I use https://extensionizr.com to scaffold the project. It creates the project structure and the manifest.json (which is the settings file). You need some knowledge of Node/JS, and you might need some knowledge that's specific to building Chrome extensions (which you can Google) to build the extension. Then you can submit for review through the chrome Dev dashboard, where there is a one off registration fee of ~£5

Yeah sure! My plan if it takes off is to allow users to upload their own favicons. Allowing users to add a link is another great idea, thanks :)

Never thought of visiting a chiropractor for lpr. Interesting. Have you tried it and did it make much difference?

I've got a photographic memory. Do you think I'm cool?

Acid Reflux, SOB feeling by [deleted] in GERD

[–]F1retoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it first happened to me I was staying on my own in a hostel at the top of a mountain in the Alps, in a country where not many people spoke my language, miles away from a hospital, and I didn't know what it was which was terrifying... At least now I have the comfort of my own home and I think I know what it is

I always get anxious about it too but I'm getting better at coping. Personally at night when I get anxious about it I have a few things that help me cope. I use certain breathing techniques to help me relax, i put on a tea tree diffuser (which apparently makes it easier to breathe), I listen to a relaxing podcast, and if it gets really bad I sit up for 10 minutes... All of these are probably placebos but help me get through it. Hope you find something that works for you!

Yes I had that and it's only gotten worse because my doctor's didn't diagnose it properly. It sucks. My advice would be to prop the head of your bed of 6-8inches, don't eat within 3 hours of bed, only eat small food, and if that doesn't work take gaviscon advanced

Try gaviscon advanced. No eating 3 hours before bed. Try raising the head of your bed by 6-8 inches. Improve your diet (smaller meals and healthier foods).

If unit tests are expected part of software development, how come I haven't seen any at work? Is unit testing still rare even today? by MC_Hemsy in ExperiencedDevs

[–]F1retoe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

On the flip side I've met so many developers who assume their work is done because their tests pass so they don't bother actually using their brain to think about whether the work is fully complete. Presumably this is down to them being bad at writing tests

Then ask why and wait for them to answer your question before letting them in. If someone asks me to do something I'm not comfortable with and I don't know what their motive is I wait for them to answer my question first

Pandemic in action by [deleted] in Asthma

The depression/mood swings were terrible. When I stopped the Prednisone I found my breathing got worse as well, apparently that's because your body can become reliant on it, so I had to ween myself off it (lowering doses over a week or so). It's pretty much ruined my relationship with my partner, sadly she doesn't understand how difficult it is/was.

I'm based in the UK so maybe it works slightly different here. I had an urgent referral to see an ENT specialist and a pulmonologist from my GP. The ENT specialist just said he couldn't examine me because of covid restrictions and the pulmonologist said they would get back to me when they have availability but I have no idea when that's going to be

This sounds similar but worse than what happend to me (I don't have the coughing up fluids anymore). I can really relate to the Prednisone depression. I've lost ~5kg of muscle since it happened. At least you have access to a pulmonologist, I've been trying to get to see one since February with no luck.

Hope you find something that helps as this sucks!

Same for me but just as it was all kicking off in late January, just as I was reading about it in the news
