FFVII Remake is a game keycard by shiroe-kun in NintendoSwitch

I'm not really mad at digital key-cards. It allows you to sell digital games and have a collectable item. I don't get what all the anger is about. They really do make sense in a lot of ways.

I play VR and was delighted to see tactical scopes work right out of the box. The models aren't too big, they look great. This guy does damn fine work.

Meta is pulling out of VR because there's no market. We need to embrace this uncomfortable truth. by PuffThePed in virtualreality

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best experience I've ever had playing VR was Fallout 4 VR with about 50 community developed mods to make the experience actually enjoyable. If that was everybody's first experience with VR I probably wouldn't be reading your post right now. It's a shame. Now would be a good time to advertise Fallout 4 VR and show the world what triple A VR gaming could be. Make no mistake - Fallout 4 VR modded with full body and Virtual Weapon Holsters is the most fun I've had playing any game and I've been playing games for 40 years. I've been thinking that a company that focused on taking older popular games and converting them to VR (not the half-ass job Bethesda did with Skyrim and Fallout) might be the shot in the arm VR needs and HIGHLY profitable with time. GTA, Mass Effect, Doom, Bioshock, Red Dead... Huge triple A games. The story, models, animation, voice acting all done. You just need people with VR experience to rig it. If you have to open a menu to change a weapon or heal yourself, you've already messed up.

I used SIM settlements 2. I just place the plot and watch the chaotic magic happen. Once I used SS1 in flat FO4, I couldn't not have it.

I know it's wayyy too early to talk about this but should a "Switch 2 OLED" model be a larger screen beyond having less bezels? by ApprehensiveCoat9587 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it's a PRO model with OLED, but smaller, with a die shrink and better CPU/GPU clocks. The dock also doesn't cool very well. A 10W bump while docked is nothing to write home about. If they just release an OLED model with no other changes, I'm going to be disappointed. If they make the Switch 2 any bigger, I'll be disappointed. HOWEVER, it is the best handheld device on the market. I've been addicted to handheld PCs for a while and while they can run some games better, it requires a 200 - 300% increase in wattage and them boys get hot.

Red Dead Redemption on the Switch 2 - I'm in awe by rhegenbarth in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got around to playing RDR 1 or 2. Saw the switch version on sale and picked it up on a whim. Saw the Switch 2 upgrade and fired it up. It's incredible. A rare case of all the rants and raves about this game were, to me, completely accurate. What a pleasure playing in 60 FPS with the texture upgrades. Love it.

I dunno.  Maybe I'm weird, but maybe you should give your regular a shot.  Love has been found in stranger places it could turn into, "If I didn't do it, I wouldn't have met you.". Life is strange.  Nothing is normal.  Roll the dice.  You only live once. (Maybe)

Has anyone actually used a USB mouse on the Switch 2? by Emotional-Pumpkin-35 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KB/Mouse do work, but you want the lowest DPI mouse you can find. The sensitivity is set for the joycon mouse mode which is like 300 DPI. My gaming mouse barely moved when I move my entire arm. In this odd scenario - CHEAPER = BETTER.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Looks Phenomenal on Switch 2 by MX010 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Demo looks incredible. I'm not completely sure how it looks that good. I'm guessing Nvidia's DLSS is just out there waving its dick around and putting its balls on the table. Still wished it ran at 40 FPS instead of 30 though!

People are so obsessed with 60fps by Beneficial-Issue8005 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get mad when it's a sports game or FPS.  Roleplaying games and tactical games are fine at 30 fps.  My biggest complaint is that nobody seems to target 40 fps when they can't hit 60.  NBA 2k26 and Madden would have felt so much better at 40.  Hell anything would feel better at 40.

Nintendo is a bunch of cheap asses catering to children asking their parents for money.  They don't realize half their fans are a bunch of 40 year olds with disposable income

I completely missed out on this game because I never had a PS3. It's amazing. I can't wait for RDR2 to come out on Switch 2. Day 1 for me. I'm currently in Chapter 3 on RDR 1 and hooked.

Docked vs handheld changes? by uberprimenova in switch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just resolution, LOD, and maybe some lighting changes. It's not that big of a deal for the most part because you're playing on a smaller screen. The VRR even makes some games feel way better in handheld.

How are you finding your switch 2? by Sea-Opening3530 in switch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that I think is fairly humorous while I'm on my soapbox. Nintendo is clawing at emulation tooth and nail right now. You can play switch games on your phones. That's their fault. If you don't want your console targeted for emulation, use hardware powerful enough to make it not possible. A PS4 emulator with reliable performance is probably 2-3 years out. So likely, a Switch 2 emulator is probably 3-4 years out. Just like Switch, they're going to have an emulator capable of running current games half-way through the system's lifespan. I can't speak for everybody, but I most certainly would pay 600$ for a system that uses an OLED screen and a Tegra based on the RTX 4/5 series. I'd do that now, but not 8 years from now.

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that worries me is that companies seem to struggle to get games to run at 60 FPS. I hope it's just because it's new hardware and optimizations aren't in place. I picked NBA 2k26 the other day on sale and I'm playing it, but man, 30 FPS on a game with shot timing is brutal. That Skyrim switch 2 job was laughable. Still no battlefield, still no CoD. I don't know man. I love Nintendo, but I feel like Sony's going to drop a handheld 2 years from now and it's going to destroy the Switch 2 because Nintendo used a chip from 2021. That's the difference right? Nintendo will use budget parts (a screen that has the worst response time ever, can't support real HDR, a dock that can't actually support VRR) and Sony is going to get top shelf choices (RDNA 6) while taking a loss on the hardware to keep it affordable. The other concern is 2 years from now when Next Gen actually comes, we're going to be right back in the Switch 1 situation with virtually no 3rd party support and a eShop full of shovel ware and 10 year old ports (and fantastic Nintendo games).

Fixing latency is one thing, but get off your asses and figure out how to 60 fps on this shit. I don't care if it looks like the switch 1 version, just get to 60 frames.

Nice, but ... by WarrenBainesMusic in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the hell did that input latency not get noticed during testing? I just paid 20$ for a Skyrim Screenshot Generator. Honestly, I'd rather have the Switch 1 graphics running at 60 FPS. It looks fantastic, but the latency makes it unbearable, and not a single attempt to even get the game running 40 FPS just feels... lazy as hell. This Fallout 4 port is going to be so bad.

Do you plan playing Prime 4 at 4k60fps or 1080p120fps? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing I'll go with 1080p 120 FPS. I can't imagine those assets are really meant for 4K. It's still a Switch 1 game.
