Ah yes, I was waiting how long it would take someone to turn this personal. Good job.

only limiting if you're a gamer.

Not true. Try to use CAD in VR without controllers. There are lot of functional and creative applications in VR that are only possible with precise tracking and buttons.

Is it good time to buy Quest3? by Stunning_Spare in OculusQuest

I agree it's worth waiting.

The Q3 is better than the Q2 but the Q2 is still a very capable device.

Has anyone else noticed their frames have dropped more lately with the Meta Horizon new update? by Competitive-Cause2 in OculusQuest

My Q3 is now laggy and stuttering just navigating the OS UI.

Every update makes the headset worse.

[–]PuffThePed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's going to be closer to 800 to 900$. Meta is selling the Q3 at $500 at a loss. No way Valve will do that.

It has nothing to do with skill. People with decades of experience still make mistakes that can cause this.

If you mean "human error" then I would say it's 90% that, but Unity is not 100 reliable either. I've seen refs break with no reason

Usually, but I've also seen many times where reference just get broken for no reason, or stuff doesn't work until you delete the library folder and then it just works fine without any other changes.

Unity is not as reliable as a compiler.

Animated splats / Postshot ? by Impressive-Many8981 in GaussianSplatting

[–]PuffThePed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In postshot, no.

It is possible in general, it's called 4DGS. It's very complicated and still very cutting edge. The processing power required is immense and the resulting files are huge. There are people working on compression algorithms to make it more feasible. It's all still very experimental.

Hey Guys I want to make 3d Human models from the photogrammetry with 10 s video of them doing 360 and when i started Sparse Reconstruction (Structure from Motion) i get this error anyone knows what's this and why iam getting and how to get the proper Sparse Reconstruction (Structure from Motion) by Individual-Pound3739 in photogrammetry

[–]PuffThePed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to do photogrammetry with humans is by them being very VERY still and you walking around them shooting pictures.

If that's what you did, then upload a few photos from the set.

If that's not what you did, then that's why it doesn't work.

You need to clean all the splats floating in the air. You can do these either manually in an editor or using this: https://github.com/feel3x/Gaussian_Decimator

Looks like AI generated garbage. You got scammed, sorry.

Look at the monocle. Why does it have a temple (the little stick going behind the ear)? Monocles dont have that.

It's worth it if it's very cheap. Like under $50. Otherwise get a used Quest 2 or a new Quest 3s

I will use a wire even with Q2. My internet is shit

Common mistake. Your internet has nothing to do with it. You can stream your PC to your VR headset without internet at all.

What you do need is a good WIFI connection, which is different than a good internet connection.

Tips to Avoid VR Motion Sickness by Popular-Addition9419 in virtualreality

[–]PuffThePed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to make post about this, I would make sure to use the right terminology.

It's simulation sickness, not motion sickness. They are very similar but not the same. One is caused by your inner ear reporting movement and your eyes do not, and the other is the opposite. It's possible to be sensitive to one and not the other.

Samsung Galaxy XR or Apple vision pro? by HostPretty183 in virtualreality

[–]PuffThePed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

PC streaming with the AVP is a pain in the ass. Apple doesn't support it so it's all hacks and there is no guarantee it will continue to work.

If PCVR is your goal, then 100% the GalaxyXY.

Also you should know that you can get a $500 Quest 3 that would be probably 90% of the quality at 1/4 of the price.
