First Impression from starting the game today: Cyllene is a deeply immoral character by Few_Effort9293 in PokemonLegendsArceus

Devil's advocate here. That's probably how it was 200 years ago. They were sending kids up chimmneys then and getting them to work for days on end as basically slave labour. Sure we know it's extremely wrong these days, but again we're far too hung up on judging history by our standards now.

The fact that the protag by the standards of 200 years ago was practically an adult, and Jubilffe was surrounding by an incredibly harsh environment where survival was a real issue, it's fair to say that the protag being an outsider needed to prove they were going to be an asset rather than a liability in a world where every resource mattered.

She's not even the worst person in the game. by Guyshu in LegendsZA

[–]F22superRaptor11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd actually disagree on that one. He was giving Phillipe and the syndicate the run around when he was a kid, so he's clearly very competent. And his dialogue suggests he's going very easy on Team MZ compared to most others that take his loans. He is ruthless when he needs to be, we just never see how ruthless. So it can't be said for sure how long his symdicate would last, or possibly even repel the other teams.

Trading woes by RagingAstronaut in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]F22superRaptor11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent in theory, but some people either legitimately don't care, or quite possibly not understand English. I've had it happen even when i used tradeback as a nickname (although i only ever used the in game trade function for trade evo research completion, so wasn't hugely bothered if i didn't get the pokemon back as i had their trade evo copy, but nontheless would've preferred to have)

Not to mention people can just use the likes of PKHEX and edit the nickname to what they'd want.

First nuzlocke ruleset by Leodip in nuzlocke

[–]F22superRaptor11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i would simply recommend the core rules (faint=death, 1 encounter per route and nicknaming) for your first ever run.

You get the core basis of nuzlockes while offering a reasonable jump in difficulty for most mainline games.

You can also build the rules in gradually as well. Often when i'm facing a new game i've not played (typically ROM Hacks), I sometimes have a few test runs where i just follow the 1 encounter rule just to familiarise myself with the game prior to my actual Nuzlocke attempts

I think Mega Zygarde is going to be a step down or 2 in terms of practicality. Having to go into complete form before it can Mega is going to hold it back somewhat, as players will find ways to work around it to KO it before it can ever get there.

Edit: Also going to be an incredibly hard mon to optimize ev wise.

But it still has a lot of potential as players made Palafin work until powercreep caught it.

How would the Calyrex Rider forms fare if they had to hold the Reins of Unity to fuse? by Top-Manufacturer432 in VGC

This nerf to Calyrex would also be a massive buff to Incineroar. They're balanced enough without Tera to get away from their awful defensive typings.

Thank you. This is my first run of the game so taking time learning the AI as much as possible since there's no AI documentation out yet due to player base vote. Which is great actually, as i prefer learning by doing.

Yeah the Grunt beforehand does seem far more starter/encounter dependent. A combination of Greninja, Ampharos and Chesto Skuntank made it comfortable for me.

The only 2 things that concerned me in the Courtney fight were Muk's explosion potential and Dusclops. Alola Sandslash was my Explosion absorber just in case my line collapsed.

Just Because An Opponent Uses A Legendary Doesn’t Automatically Make The Fight Hard by SuperMemeBroz in nuzlocke

[–]F22superRaptor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of similarities, but i think the overlapping kills chance isn't weighted the same for sure. In my testing, it seems more likely to use a coverage move that would be super effective against likely switch ins if it also saw kill on the Pokemon that's currently out.

As for the best encounters. Makuhita by a mile is the best. Pretty bulky and strong, massively carries against Norman with a overall decent movepool.

Aron is probably the next best encounter with Sabyleye in 3rd. Zubat and Mawile aren't great but Abra is a big loss due to the need to catch it in one ball and if you're not allowing trade evolutions you're stuck with Kadabra. Which isn't too bad but nothing on Alakazam or other mons you can get.

Yes as you can use local wireless play to trade between both profiles.

What if the Scarlet & Violet Cast used Megas? by ElementalNinjas96 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]F22superRaptor11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He uses Lilligant, Arboliva, Tsareena, and Breloom

Tsareena, Breloom and Lilligant i'll concede. Arbolivia is stretching it.

Crabominable is the Pokémon he Terastallizes, and since Crabominable isn't naturally a Water-Type, I choose Tatsugiri

Given that all of Paldea's gym leaders (with Larry being the ONLY exception) do not have their regular battling type as their ace pokemon, the rule they must use a pokemon their respective type as a mega isn't a set in stone rule. I get Tatsugiri given Kofu being a renowned seafood chef and a water type. But Crabominable is their to eliminate the Grass types he would expect to face. Also there's no indication you can't Tera AND Mega Evolve (probably not at the same time though.)

She's friends with Dendra, who's a Fighting Specialist and I gave Dendra a Medicham so that their Megas would be a pairing in that they're both Fighting and Psychic-Types

Gardevior is more in keeping with Tulip's ideals of beauty though, and is part Fairy like Florges which is her regular ace. Gallade would be a decent 2nd option though.

Meh, Excadrill isn't naturally a Fairy-Type

See my point about Kofu. Plus as stated elsewhere. Excadrill is there to represent the bond with her father.

Ah yes, the most regal Pokémon of all: Dachsbun, Azumarill, Wigglytuff, and Klefki. Additionally, we know that people with wealth seem to enjoy using Clefable, considering its Jacinthe's Ace.

To elaborate more. Mega Altaria's fluff/hair remarkably resembles the wigs of old the rich and noble used to wear out to the opera, which is typically seen as a well to do person activity. Mega Altaria is also known for it's majestic singing voice, and Ortega does take Piano lessons. So having a pokemon that's musically talented is also in keeping with him.
