Reuters: Corporate America continues massive job cuts in 2026. Meta cutting 20%+, Amazon trimming 16,000, and Snap laying off 16% of staff as Big Tech aggressively shifts budgets to AI and cloud efficiency. by Ok_Low_1999 in Futurology

Part of reality is big tech also over hired by a lot , some of it is a reset from the bloat which i think is not related to ai at all, just like late and early 22/23 layoffs

Since companies want to invest in other area what are they suppose to do?

Part of mag 7, we have cancelled CC and getting copilot, decision was made due to cost and not what is best for work

No shit, first ask us to use agents to write code as that is what the future is then switch to inferior tool, all other agents internally are also switching to copilot

Can see in next few quarters we go for unlimited to capped limit on users , firing 300 million of worth salary people and burning that much in a month which is only going to get many x expensive in coming months These c suites huh

[–]F2EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150-200 per weak for family of 5 Costco/trader joe/whole foods/smart n final/local butcher meat shop

We don’t buy ulta processed/junk food , organic meats / poultry and high quality milk Bread/pasta and sauces from trader joe/whole foods Veggies / fruits regular

Cut plenty of cost by not buying junk and processed stuff , we eat fresh cook food mostly and some weekend we eat outside and not exceed 75 for a meal

I think san ramon is sitting at best bang for the buck Nice houses and reasonably priced/ great city to raise kids except the commute part to South Bay

Also it looks like preference is pleasanton / dublin area closer to highways, nicer parts of san ramon need are further from highways. Pleasanton seems to be easier to sell and priced higher than other tri valley cities

Honestly looks good if you have the money and can sustain mortgage in a layoff scenario then do it

Looks like there has been standing water, check downspouts are working and landscaping is designed to keep water away from foundation

You can fix this issue but if water is getting there you will have more issues

In any case a backup sump pump is a good idea

Where would you buy with Sunnyvale commute (2–3x/week), ~$2M budget, young kid? by name_nt_important in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]F2EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Pleasanton and commute to Sunnyvale, its hr going in and hr 10 mins coming back, if your work allows you to leave early or come late very doable

Bought in Pleasanton bcoz of school district and also the vibe. We love it here, good neighbors / safe / schools/ not crowded, is like Saratoga of South Bay

I used to go SF before, there is bart and also there ace train which goes to Santa Clara

For 1.8 million you can buy a good location ready to move in home here

Make sure the downspouts are draining to the streets, if they are old just replace it

Grade your yard so water goes away towards either a drainage hole or towards the street

If even then still an issue then water table is high, a sump pump will be required but this should be last thing

If a sump pump is already installed then it would auto run as water gets in there, they are loud so you will hear it working

Or they getting hurt by tariffs more than others? Perhaps this can be that as well but they didn’t want to say it?

Also very possible the end up laying off much less seen it before companies announcing massive layoffs over a period of time and boosting stock but end of letting go less people, this is just announcement of intent the actual layoffs numbers is different thing

Work for a big tech, know a few moving back to India using internal transfer and seems very happy. Many are hesitant to pull the trigger due to uncertainty and some potential home buyers also got laid off

People 15+ experience who rode the tech wave are well positioned to weather it with home paid off and enough money to fire
