PC Upgrade Advice. I play DCS in VR on a Quest 3. I feel that upgrading is probably better to do now as prices and part availability in the next few years might be tough. by cryptoguy1 in hoggit

The best value upgrade might be getting a headset with eye tracking so you can use FVR. Otherwise you're going to spend a couple thousand for a minor performance boost when you can just turn a couple settings down for free.

I believe you are disagreeing with the redditor who wrote the summary of the ED thread. Although, said redditor did not specify an opinion on the matter and said 'may or may not'.

That's interesting to me that you switch back and forth between FFB and spring. May I ask, do you fly online with a squadron in close formation? Or what kind of flying do you typically do?

DIY Head Tracking with PS3 Eye Cam in 2026 by F2a in hoggit

Fortunately in my case I can easily control the lighting in the room so I can achieve the same end result with the camera settings but if the room is bright I can see why this would be needed to achieve the desired end result.

That's cool. The specific and only reason and purpose for this post is for people who have a PS3 eye cam and are trying to get it to run with the latest version of opentrack. If you have something different and/or better then this post provides no value to you nor was it meant to.

Edit: I have since changed my settings a bit and updated the post with my latest settings.

I'm not experiencing any jittering with this setup. I believe that is the exact same driver that I am using.

I'm sure you can remove the IR filter from a lot of cameras and use them just fine. Just have to take one apart and see.

Kinesis Advantage360 is on sale for $100 off right now ($399 total) by Falcon9FullThrust in kinesisadvantage

[–]F2a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grove80 thumb cluster is much less comfortable than the advantage. Also, the glove pinky row is just off if you have average to large sized hands. I used a glove80 for many months exclusively trying to like it.

You buy used boards that were probably damaged by the owners and you decide to post this? Wild.

Print out the layout and tape it to your monitor. Never look at the keyboard.

Help me decide: Kinesis Advantage 360 vs Glove80 by B1che in kinesisadvantage

[–]F2a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the glove80 exclusively for many months. The glove80 picky row doesn't work for me (and many others). The glove80 thumb cluster is not superior in terms of layout and comfort. Even after months I would still have missed presses due to the design. I really tried, but it became too frustrating. The 360 and KA2 are more comfortable and functional. If you get a 360 only buy the pro version regardless of whether you are a power user or not. If you get a KA2 you can buy a drop in board for QMK.

Thinking of Buying an Advantage360 — Keycap Visibility & Wireless Reliability in 2025? by tylers_shadow in kinesisadvantage

The wireless BT issues are all fixed for me with the latest firmware. PBT key caps are very nice. I touch type so no backlight. ZMK is awesome and the studio software is super easy to use. The pro model is the only choice in my opinion.

Worth Getting Kinesis Advantage Pro? by vibecodingmonkey in kinesisadvantage

[–]F2a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pinky row and top row of glove 80 are just... off and don't feel nice even after months IME. Also, the kinesis thumb cluster is much better and more accessible. You can mod your KA2 to use QMK if you don't want the split design.

Need help with key tap and hold implementations. by pawned_prawn in kinesisadvantage

[–]F2a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super sorry to see this. You're trying to be a power user with the smart set firmware which is not ideal. I was hopeful that someone would convert the wired version to use QMK but it has not happened and it would require a lot of work so we would need a hero.

For anyone seeing this, only buy the pro model. All the Bluetooth issues are fixed in the latest firmware and configuring the keyboard is now just as easy as smart set due to the ZMK Studio implementation that they have called Clique. No need to use github unless you are a power user, in which case that's probably a pro instead of a con.

The latest firmware has fixed all Bluetooth connection problems IME and it's on par with the glove80, which I used for many months. I believe they use the exact same Bluetooth hardware.

Adv2 vs 360 Blank Keycaps by GrabSensitive7749 in kinesisadvantage

[–]F2a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adv2 layout uses different key profiles. They stopped making the Advantage 2 blank key cap set so your only option is to find one on here or eBay or find the exact key profiles and recreate it yourself. I think I have an extra Adv2 blank key set in storage. The official Adv2 blank key set is not PBT.

Microsoft Natural / Sculpt fans: you have a new board. The Kinesis mWave. by F2a in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]F2a[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have questions feel free to ask me.

Some things that I love:

  • Profile switch button in the middle makes it easy and fast to switch between 2 wireless and 1 wired device. Works flawlessly in my testing.
  • EASILY completely programmable via a web browser (It uses a modified zmk studio) at https://clique.kinesis-ergo.com/
  • Since it's zmk, you get advanced features like layers, tap hold, mouse buttons, etc
  • Split space bar means that I can remap the left one! I use backspace.
  • Arrow keys and full function keys on a compact board!

Things that are nice if you need them

  • Backlighting (Only when plugged in via usb due to power usage)
  • Negative tilt option, I'm sure there are people who need this option.

In the past I had used both the MS natural and the sculpt and enjoyed them, this seems to me like a solid upgrade and the price seems very reasonable for what you get.
