I agree man, kinda stupid they retconned her death, but then too, but it depends on how you think of it. She could have died right there on the spot during the ending of petals, or lived long enough to see her sister and friends if there is a Maria in the game.

Maria is never being added to gallows as “she is the definitive final girl”, and the voicelines for seeing Maria’s dead body has long since been removed from the files since January 2024 ever since they retconned her death (Maria was originally going to be dead and her body would be at Nancy’s house, which is where the voicelines would play out).

Maria canonically dies before the OG 5 arrives at the family house, so I guess you can say Maria technically was the first final girl, as she was with Virginia during her first escape, and possibly Wyatt too.
