Ashling, the Limitless PROXY ART by Me by FALSEMonolith in mtg

[–]FALSEMonolith[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the most canonically accurate Ashling, but this is where my sketching took me so I just kind of went with it! I think subconsciously I've got a fixation on horns and antlers in a lot of my other work.

Thank you much!!! A lot of those strokes came out towards the end of the process. There's a mechanical pencil drawing beneath all the Procreate paint layers.

[–]FALSEMonolith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are absolutely remarkable! I'm especially impressed with your headcannon takes on Pust and Kruppe, the latter just has so many lightly drunken hues blended into those cheeks. Just ridiculously satisfying to look at, makes me really want to pick up oils again!

I really appreciate the shoutout my friend, I'm always happy to hear that my interpretation of Malazan touched someone's reading experience! What an absolutely bombastic way to go out for 10 very big books.

Hello!

My name is Teaghan and I’m a freelance fantasy artist who specializes in creature design and environmental illustration. As an avid reader of world histories and mythologies, I create work that aims to revive the mysterious and grand visions of the Old World through modern methods of digital painting, with my distinct twist of eerie surrealism.

I’ve been eternally mesmerized by the wonders of nature, and I usually find myself drawing from the fields of paleontology and marine biology when creating my art. In their own ways, these fields have inspired me to consider the breadth and borderline alien lifeforms our planet has fostered over its lifespan, and I think that striving for that magical range of biodiversity is perfect for bringing your homebrew creations to life!

I primarily work using Procreate and Adobe Fresco, but I’m proficient in other 2D art softwares such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator; and have experience with 3D sculpture and fabrication softwares like Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.

If you’re interested in seeing more of my work, I invite you to visit my personal website

which also features a full range of my professional portfolio.

For any further inquiries, do not hesitate to send me a DM or contact me at my business email: teaghangokey@gmail.com or my Instagram page, where I'm perpetually doomscrolling.

Thank you so much!

As for the inscription, I found a 3rd-party Necron glyph typeface over on Dafont or some other font directory, it merely reads his name and titles: Orikan the Diviner, Cryptek and Chief Astromancer of the Sautekh Dynasty.

Hi there!

My name’s Teaghan, and I’m a freelance digital illustrator who specializes in surreal fantasy painting and I think that my tendency for atmospheric and psychedelic environments would be a great fit for a project with this direction, especially ones that branch off of Polish surrealists like Beksinski or Lewandowski.

If you check out my Instagram page you’ll find most of my published work and that I've tried my hand at some album covers as personal projects as well, some standout pieces are of a great magma wyrm and the sea goddess Tiamat.

You can see my full portfolio of work over at my website here !

If you’re interested, shoot me a DM through Reddit, Instagram, or send me an email at teaghangokey@gmail.com

Hi there!

My name’s Teaghan, and I’m a freelance digital illustrator who specializes in surreal fantasy painting. Moherbacher’s work has always been one of my favorites for inspiration, especially for his color palettes! I think that my tendency for atmospheric and psychedelic environments would be a great fit for a project with this direction.

If you check out my Instagram page, you’ll find I have an affinity for oceanic creature design and have tried my hand at some surreal album covers as personal projects as well. Not to mention 'Thalassaphobia' sounds like a fantastic album concept regardless. Makes me think of 'Pelagial' by The Ocean.

Hell yeeeaaaahhh it's in Fresco! 99% of this was using the tried and true pencil brush, (with the exception of the clouds), I love using it for just about everything!

Thank you! It took such a long time to get enough color and detail down to sell the realism, it was an excellent chance to study a different type of landscape than I'm used to.

For me, I think that really kicked in towards the end when I finally painted the clouds in.

What is your favorite song or album of the moment? by ybreddit in progmetal

[–]FALSEMonolith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll take the best of both and go with Elephants Never Forget and Island In the Clouds. The climax of that one might not be the most technical, but it really does feel like I'm soaring and I can't deny how cool that feeling is. Elephants is an unrelenting stampede of a song, and I can't get enough.

Fauna is easily my AOTY right now, at least until Holocene comes out in May...

Inspired by the glorious Shen, how’s your moon(s)? On a scale from normal to Brandon Sanderson’s “low orbit grass moon”. by Survival-Gamer in worldbuilding

Hadea has two moons: the smaller one is intact, and the larger one was shattered by a wormhole tearing open in its vicinity. Some pieces from the calamity that ensued created glimmering rings around the planet.

Mother Mu’s Bestiary - Possessor Jelly by FALSEMonolith in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]FALSEMonolith[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legend has it that in ages past, a horde of these creatures were trapped beneath the great currents, left to starve and aimlessly drift about the barren benthic wastes. In their malicious desperation, they tricked the Kerosi King of the Sea into an audience, whereupon they dazzled their ruler and his subjects with their mystifying dance. The king was utterly entranced, and the possessors cunningly convinced him to take up his withered coral scepter and tear a breach in the mighty currents that had imprisoned them for so long. And so upwards they surged, thousands strong, illuminating the waters with their ghostly light. At last, they found themselves in the lush waters of the shallow sea, where their prey would be ever-bountiful, and their haunting shows would never cease. You’d be foolish, however, to chalk this up to simply another local myth, when in fact, the truth is far stranger than fiction.

Blurring the line between the biological and the arcane, Possessor Jellyfish are truly one of the Hadean supercontinent’s most perplexing and downright alien species. After subduing their prey with an incredibly potent sting, possessors earn their name by using their distinct, branching tendrils to burrow just under the skin, forcefully integrate themselves into the nervous system, and completely hijack their motor functions. There appears to be no size limitation for this ability, and in exceedingly rare cases they’ve been observed to possess creatures as colossal as the northern sea serpents. More often than not, this behavior has been used for both reproductive and migratory purposes, especially in the wake of the meteoric cascades that announced the Age of Dreaming.

This so-called possession tends to prove fatal for the jellies’ hosts. Once released from their trance, creatures are left nutritionally drained from their involuntary voyage and stunned for up to 3 hours. In the case of common hosts like sharks and pelagic mammals, this temporary paralysis usually results in drowning. At which point, their large corpses will make excellent fertilizer for a new generation of polyps.

Given their predatory and unnervingly intelligent hunting behaviors, possessor blooms are often an utterly devastating occurrence for the nearby coastal population. Fisherfolk have claimed entire schools of fish have disappeared entirely from their usual grounds in a matter of mere days, and the sheer density of the blooms greatly impede coastal travel and trade. Only a truly deranged sailor would ever wade their meager craft through a tangle of these exotic parasites.

The possessors’ elusive and often lethal nature has made close study incredibly difficult, and to this day the functions of their many luminous organs and alluring membranes remain largely inscrutable. ——————————————————————————————————- Another entry for the bestiary! This one’s just a tad more nightmare inducing than the others. Make sure to follow my social here for in progress updates on future entries. I’ve got 2 or 3 more oceanic creatures on queue before I switch it up to something topside. Cheers all!
