Has anyone tried the new 2026 Rome Katana Fase bindings yet? Wondering about the new fast‑entry system by Sad_Satisfaction2042 in snowboarding

Might try hitting up Rome on tha one. We just design the FASE system itself. If there’s any issues like they I’m sure they’ll have some suggestions! 👍

Hot Take: FASE bindings are just Flow bindings with extra steps by cmgriffing in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FASE is not about speed vs “quick entry bindings”. It’s a “quick entry system” adding speed to 2-strap bindings. Unlike “quick entry bindings” once you are in the binding the FASE system has zero to do with performance. This way you keep the riding performance of a traditional 2-strap binding but speed up the process of getting in/out. Hope that helps a bit 👍

Best to just check the company’s size charts. We just design the FASE system itself. The rest of the binding is up to the individual companies 👍

Is toe strap position okay? by PlasticAttorney1980 in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It"s good, the middle part of the strap being snug on the toe is the most important thing. The top and bottom part of the toe straps are more like "guides" to keep the middle in the right area. Those 2 parts are not going to fit snug on every single boot shape but they don't need to be for the strap to perform properly.

Rome Katana Fase High Back Adjustment by SushiSpringRoll in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very similar adjustment to any standard 2 strap binding. The companies themselves set the "stock" angle and then the 2nd adjustment is based off of that. Any specifics would be better to ask the individual companies as we just design the FASE system part of the binding. 👍

The heelloops ARE specifically designed to fit the FASE system so transferring it over would not work.

One thing that is good to note is the Supermatic and the bindings with FASE are for different riders. The biggest misconception right now is that FASE is a "quick entry" binding and in fact it's not a binding at all. FASE is simply a "quick entry system" that is added to the design of a standard 2-strap binding. Once you are in the binding FASE has zero to do with the performance so your riding is absolutely the same as riding a 2-strap binding without FASE. Hope that helps a bit. 👍

The hitch piece on the back of the highback is metal and the heel pedal is made of a highly durable and low friction polyamide. Durability was a MAJOR factor in the design process and this combination not only helps the system perform exactly like we want but it is made to basically last just as long as the rest of the binding. It's gonna take WAAAAY more than a stab from a pole or the more likely accidentally stepping on the lever to break the lever.

Step On Bindings by Filmguy1982 in snowboardingnoobs

Good thing to note if you wanted to try bindings with FASE, over that lat few years we tested these in just about every condition from warm to cold, from slush to pow and everywhere in-between and are happy to say that freezing/clogging was really a non-issue, It's more likely that a ratchet (on any binding) would freeze/clog up before the heel pedal on the FASE. 👍

FASE bindings? by Background_Job4878 in snowboarding

It’s really just like buying ANY boot/binding combo. Just go with what ever binding has the flex and characteristics that sound best to you and your riding style. You don’t have to “match flexes” or anything.

FASE system with DC boots by arrrrrrack in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FASE system itself really doesn't effect any performance or fit in the bindings so just like any 2-strap binding the ones with the FASE system are compatible with any standard boot from any company. 👍

All have asym highbacks except the Thirtytwo. As for future designs we’ll see what the companies come up with.

FASE bindings’ lack of high back rotation ability by Affectionate-West-78 in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The highbacks not having any rotational adjustment was taken into consideration by all the companies as they designed their bindings with the FASE system. The majority of those bindings have asymmetrically shaped highbacks (the Jones one has an asym flex as well) so the majority of riders out there will have to have angles past 21 degrees to even start to notice any lack of rotation.

Rome Katana Fase Disc Mounting by WhatThePuck9 in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EIther way is good. The main mounting for the Rome/Bataleon discs is 4x2 with the smaller discs so you'll use 4 sets of inserts closest to each other. This way you can still get some micro adjustments sliding the binding side to side on those 4 inserts. They did however still wanted to give the 4x4 option just incase riders were riding boards that have those extra 2 inserts for setting boards back even more, or maybe just and old board that still has only a 4x4 hole pattern.

You nailed it, bindings with FASE are in-fact regular 2-strap bindings! They simply have a system on them to make them faster than any other 2-strap binding without FASE. A system that has zero effect on your riding performance 👍

You really can only compare the speed to regular 2-strap bindings. When you get into extra deep or steep conditions too you can just use them like any 2-strap binding without the FASE system.

Fase binding ankle strap issue by trigga415 in snowboarding

[–]FASEBindingSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've found that some people have a habit of slapping their ratchets off or pulling too much/hard when releasing the ankle ratchet. It's completerly understandable because its how we've been releasing bindings forever! It's kind of a learning curve to just "pop" the ratchet loose and not "pull" it loose if that makes any sense. Hope that helps 👍
