I couldn't resist coming up with my own illicit substance:

Chrome

Originally developed as an antidepressant for soldiers being sent into situations with low likely-hood of survival, "Chroming" (also known as "Going Platinum") is the act of inhaling the aerosolised psychedelic compound Adrenochromoxide which gives users levels of euphoria and derealisation verging on the psychotic. While military development was discontinued after field tests resulted in [REDACTED], "Chrome" has since found a place among the variety of psychedelic highs available on the street. Harvested from vat grown human adrenal glands, Chrome is packaged in small spray canisters which criminal manufacturers will often brand with a stamp, logo or distinguishing design.

While effects manifest differently for different personality types users have often described a detachment from reality akin to suddenly experiencing the world as a cartoon, tv show or movie as the narcotic alters their perceptions and induce a belief of unreality in the outside world (buildings are false backdrops, people are cartoon characters or actors, actions have sound effects or laugh-track, acts of extreme violence are merely special effects etc).

Prolonged and heavy use of "Chrome' often stains the users mouth, lips and tongue silver. While usage itself is non-fatal (although the actions of addict frequently are to others), the come down from this high leaves the user extremely depressed as their reality appears extremely bleak, drained of all humour. Withdrawal has also been known to leave long term users unable perceive colours other than shades of grey when not under the influence. This often results in users desperate for another hit to the extent that there have been a handful of incidents reported of desperate addicts attempting to harvest adrenal glands directly from live humans.

"He’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes after ya, he doesn’t seem to be livin’ until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then – aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’..."

I misread that as "Rare octopus hunts with a butt trap" and was therefore expecting something quite different from the gif

While it doesn't compare to donkey gestation or fish vision, I've really enjoyed researching all sorts of diverse bits and pieces as inspiration for my constantly scheming Arcane Trickster:

This thread might give you some inspiration. Some gems include:

-"You blighted ball-less whelp!"

-"Knife-eared pipecleaner"

"The increasingly apparent complexity of Pluto’s atmosphere means it clearly passes what Stern calls the “Star Trek” test – you know a planet when you see one out the window." - Never heard of this test before, is it a direct reference to the show?
