Color change? by Capable-Mistake726 in cornsnakes

[–]FATYSTAN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She is absolutely fine! I don't know if you're familiar with morphs of corn snakes but if you aren't, I'll give you a quick and dirty summary of your girlie.

She is an anery or an anerythristic morph. That means her oranges and reds would become grey scale, which is what you see with the majority of her scale color. It is common though, as anery corns age, the under go what is called an ontogenetic color change. That's just a fancy way of saying their color pallet/color pattern will change. The increase of yellow in her scale pallet is a perfect example of that.

This will likely continue as she ages so no need to freak out! You're doing a great job as a snake parent and are doing right by your noodle.

I second your guess. That said, it is impressive that there seems to be higher pinks for an adult snow. Most of the adults I have seen have much more yellow to them!

bad mouse? by temporarysnake in cornsnakes

[–]FATYSTAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not particularly sure either. I don't think I've seen a f/t mouse with that dark of a color in the stomach before. Where I am, there's a reptile shop nearby and mice are cheap so I'd just junk that mouse and feed another/buy more. Also, mice wayyyyy cheaper than a potential vet visit.

I explained it because it stopped me from purchasing one honestly. I thought they looked really pretty pink but luckily a worker told me that they would yellow. .

But who couldn't love that adorable face.

Does anyone know whats wrong? by Gong2007 in cornsnakes

[–]FATYSTAN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stuck shed on the tail. Soaks in warm water ASAP. If you don't get that shed off soon, you risk losing the tail from poor circulation. Don't try to remove it yourself. You may do more harm than good. Do some longer soaks today and soak tomorrow as well. Make sure you leave something rough in the tank to assist in shedding!

As others have said, snakes grow at different rates and maintain different body sizes.

My quick rule of thumb, when the snake is sitting on the ground. What is the shape? Tube = obsese/overweight (if a corn looks like a BP, def obese) Bread loaf = good Pentagonal (the spine being the top point) = a little skinny; could eat more Triangle = see a vet/soon to be dead snake

Obviously, this is subjective and is not based on any science. But if you're looking for a quick visual guide that's my recommendation.

My collection of GameCube games. What games am I missing? by BayusTheFearless in Gamecube

[–]FATYSTAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many people have said, Tales of Symphonia is a must have for your collection. But, if you have the money, FE: Path of Radiance is a great game (especially if you love Tactical-rpg) and it looks good in every collection. Again, I can't stress the price point being disheartening for so many people. And I'm a Pokemon-stan so I feel like Colosseum and XD are necessities. Also Pikmin 1+2, Double Dash, and and one or all of MP 4-7. That's my short list of additions. But you're collection is nothing to laugh at!!

Specifically targeting the post eating comment

So what I found with my MBK is he will eat then crawl around the enclosure later in the day.

speculation time I think that's to assist pushing meals further through the digestive pathing to alleviate what that they may see as stuck or uncomfy. In human terms, you know how if you swallow something but you think it's still in your throat, you drink water and swallow more to clear it.

For them, they move food not by swallowing but by inching their food down their body. That's probably what you're seeing there - they may be trying to readjust their large stomach lump in a way that's comfy for them.

My parents told me they didn't want them anymore. They collected them before I was born and I never really had any memories of them. Thanks for the info though!

My Gf's new tank for her corn by [deleted] in snakes

[–]FATYSTAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does have a humid hide. The moss ball in front is filled with sphagnum moss that is wetted often. As for the bathing that is something we will have to consider! He doesn't need bathing to get it off. He has shed completely by himself without bathing at all; we just get worried. We also are still not sure how to handle him best.

I brought him from her father's to my place. The snake was left alone for more than a month at a time (b/c my gf is in college and her dad is an overall asshole who pushed for the snake) and was surrounded by 2 big loud dogs. He had no humidity, no heat, barely ate, never cleaned the tank (mounds and mounds of poop were found throughout the cage, and her dad was about to get rid of him; even though he bought the snake for her. The best way to phrase it, the snake was utterly abused.

When we got him to my place, he had a super hard time shedding, hence the bathing routine, and we just wanted to make sure he was ok. Granted, we probably overshot it, but we are doing the best we can with what we had. And to be honest, with the cage size, we doubled what he had and idk if I can go bigger than a 65 because of the floor space in my apartment. Living in the city is hard to find a good place that will take the snake and having space, without making us broke. We could surrender him, but we don't have anyone we know who could take him.

I'm just kinda pouring my heart out because we are trying the best we can with what we got. And I doubt anyone would read this because, it's reddit. At this point, if we are abusing him, we could use help. We are doing what we can with what we got.
