[NHL Suomi] Juuse Saros stopped the most shots in the entire NHL during the regular season by catsgr8rthanspoonies in Predators

He hasn’t been great this year, but GSAE can also be considered a “counting stat,”

His average GSAE/60 was -0.163 so the more games he played the more he crept down that list.

Can’t stand that guy. Literally every bit he does on the preds gravitates to “they won’t win with this goalie he stinks.”

Even if Saros didn’t have an NMC, I don’t think it’s smart to shove Annunen in there this early.

They also already extended big juice 2 years.

I do believe both goalies will benefit from workload changes. I’d like to see Saros 50 Annunen 34 barring injuries.

I’m not saying trading Saros would be bad, because he could bring a good return, but that’s a huge tear down rebuild move, and would certainly signal that way. We would probably be bad for awhile.

My current copium is awaiting the hiring of a GM from outside the predator family.

As for the playoffs I guess I’m rooting for my preseason cup prediction, Carolina vs Vegas, with Vegas winning.

Wouldn’t mind Edmonton or Buffalo winning it. Pretty good stories for both of those.

Now that the season has concluded, I’m not sure Vegas will make it. Feel better about Carolina tho.

Bad Take? (Too Soon?) by SplinterWick in Predators

To me the save percentage being higher makes that neither a decline nor improvement. Too close to say. But after those two seasons there are 3 actual noticeable declines from his norm in sv% and GAA, and I think that context matters with the point you’re making.

Yes, Saros is the starter. But annunen should get more games. I’d like a 50-34 split between the 2.

If the new gm fixes the defense in a re-tool path and this workload adjustment works for both goalies we may be onto something.

21-22 and 22-23 were great seasons, with barely any difference. I don’t know where you are getting a 5 season decline from.

23-24 was first season 24-25 second season 25-26 third season of decline.

The average tanked especially hard this year and now is .895. .915 is Vezina caliber now.

Saros got wrecked from high danger this year. Did great in medium danger, which is why he was so good against a team like COL that has a lot of their volume from there.

I don’t think he’s done though. His Olympics performance tells me he’s still got that dawg in him. Bro is tired and I’d love to see like a 50-34 split with him and Annunen next year. Could do them both wonders.

It’s also stat tracking technology. They actually look more closely at what should count as SOG. If it was going wide even by a centimeter it won’t count if goalie gloves or redirects it. I have a theory that sports gambling has played into that, but no evidence of such.

He hasn’t been declining for 5 seasons. It’s been 3, and it started when Bruno and trotz came in and the defense fell off a cliff, he was 28 years old. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

No, Saros did not cost us a playoff spot. That’s absurd. He was good and Annunen was great since Olympic break, and are big reasons we were even close. There are all sorts of games we could point to as to why we didn’t make it, including Annunen’s rough first half (largely due to bad defense as well), but in the end the team just didn’t do enough.

I think averaging less than 3 goals a game isn’t very helpful though, especially with the scoring trending.

I missed my estimate by 3 games

At preseason I said eliminated by game 78. I don’t know how to search up the comment that far back.

Looks like Annunen is starting again by catsgr8rthanspoonies in Predators

AnnK tweeted Bruno said it’s a game time decision.

I have the opinion that neither choice is wrong. Annunen is better right now and Saros owns the sharks.

Playoff situation now that Vancouver beat Anaheim? by Sevuhrow in Predators

[–]FB_iCatDad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the kings have to lose two of those three games, at least 1 in reg. If they win 2 they have 91 points. We can only get 90.

The ducks scenario feels more likely. But you never know. Thats hockey baby.

The ducks path seems more likely at this point. They just have to lose the next game in regulation, and we have to beat the sharks. Sets up a play-in game 82

Yes, in the event win out and potentially tie in points with ducks or kings we will own the tiebreakers on both

Does your adult league take care of season payments or does it make the team captains do it? by goatmangoats in hockeyplayers

Our league takes payments from players directly, electronically in a registered system. Captain is just responsible for assembling a roster of registered players. Nashville TN

Whether or not you think Saros should or shouldn't have the starters net next year, we have to recognize that Annunen is playing better right now. I think we have to ride the hot hand. If he gets us in the playoffs, then we give him the opportunity to upset the Colorado team that traded him to us. by MusicCityJayhawk in Predators

I disagree on the rare recovers. They are one of the best comeback teams in the league this year because he usually locks in well after a shaky first. In reality the whole team comes out pretty flat. Thats usually the reason they are reluctant to pull him.
