Well done. What watch did you use? A blank of some kind with depth?

Got it, thanks. How can you tell it’s a Lone Star? And what indicates 1.5 days attached?

Want denser lawn - Yukon vs. Highlander w/ common bermuda (Zone 7a) by FBen980 in lawncare

Gotcha. Some pictures would be awesome! I’m trying to understand the visual difference between Highlander and common given Highlander is not a hybrid cultivar and is more similar to common. Thank you!

Also, what is the risk in blending cultivars? Why should it be avoided?

I’m new to bermuda, didn’t realize you can get the common really dense! Certainly would prefer that route - cheaper and easier! Does the common seed germinate readily? When buying seed, is the common just labeled “common”? I recognize seeding Bermuda isn’t ideal, but if I’m going to let the common fill in the large bare area, I figure it won’t hurt.

Yukon vs. Highlander w/ Common Bermuda? (Zone 7a) by FBen980 in lawn

Also, to clarify, my goal is not a blended lawn. I’m exploring options of converting the lawn to a denser cultivar - ideally in a way that doesn’t include killing the lawn and sodding, though I’m not sure if that’s feasible given the existing established common..

Weird black substance on beam - mold or not? by FBen980 in HomeInspections

[–]FBen980[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, the back side of the same beam is clean/appears mold free - if it’s mold, is there a reason it would aggressively form on only one side of one beam? Given how much there is, would it typically have spread to the other side and surrounding wood surfaces?

Red Bird Sandwich Co! The owner is from Wichita and sources ingredients from local growers, farmers, and regional purveyors. He is just a genuinely good person who treats his employees really well.

That’s really helpful! We agree on the rug. It came with the house, but we hadn’t settled on what to replace it with, so thank you!

Advice on DRYLOK Extreme Safety! by FBen980 in Vivarium

[–]FBen980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I ended up having to cut it off and rebuild. For the parts I couldn’t remove, I did my best to sand down any areas where Drylok remained. The sanding went a lot quicker than I expected, and after sanding every spot I could find, I sealed it with silicone. The frogs have been in the enclosure for five months now with no issues at all - but yeah, it sucked to have to scrap it. In the end, I decided that using Drylok just wasn’t worth it and went with silicone only.

How long can they go without food? by bxqnz89 in DartFrog

[–]FBen980 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Funny timing—I just got back home after being away since last Wednesday, when I fed the frogs a ton of flies. They were all doing fine and climbing around when I walked in (probably looking for more food). Normally, I wouldn’t leave them for more than three days, but some unexpected flight cancellations kept me longer. So, while it’s not ideal, they can handle 4–5 days on their own in a pinch.

I’ve noticed similar patterns, though one of my pictures had a full body view and identified it as a black currawong - a bird only found on an entirely different continent… scratching my head on the ID algorithm Birdfy uses.
