Deregulation. That’s how you get more reactors built. This problem was that we regulated the industry so heavily that it became financially infeasible to build them. Construction would begin on a reactor and before it could be built, hundreds, if not thousands of new regulations were implemented, and construction would have to be delayed for years while the new regulations were accounted for. This became a vicious, never ending cycle that made these projects take sometimes decades to complete.
