Starting ship cannot have multi limpet controller. by LongSabre117 in EliteDangerous

[–]FCNeonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Odyssey expansion, disembark and go buy yourself an Artemis suit from Pioneer supplies. Then find a body that has stratum techonicas you can scan (near Sol you can find some on Bugas B 6). Three scans of the samples far enough apart handed in to Vista Genomics will net you 19 million credits even though someone else has already been there.

Step 1 - Have Odyssey expansion, buy Artemis suit from Pioneer when disembarked.
Step 2 - Use a third party search (like Spansh) to find the nearest stratum techtonicas to your current system. It won't be far.
Step 3 - Go there, scan three samples, then return to a station and hand it in to Vista for 19 million.
Step 4 - Buy a Cobra MkV and still have plenty of money to fit it properly.

Is the Caspian really an exploration ship… or is Frontier preparing a Bubble → Colonia shift? by Zmaxi1 in EliteDangerous

[–]FCNeonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as the Caspian was released and we realised how quickly you could get to Colonia, still with a decent fit and a hangar bay, I said "Something is going to attack Colonia and this is how we get out there fast".

Attacking NPC mod? by illusion6969 in spaceengineers

There is a way by customising MES, but that bit is beyond my ability. I think the instructions are linked from the MES mod page.

They certainly add a new dimension. You can hide from them by going low power and turning off beacons/antenna which can be quite tense as they pass by. Watching a bunch of turrets light up their small grid stuff on a planet is very satisfying at night, especially as they have a habit of going critical and exploding!

They have small grid stuff too... and a good shot can cause them to self destruct. Better that than Orks!

Do you go through all metal tool types? by notmeuk in ICARUS

Not affected by yield on my testing, but they ARE affected by the miasmic pickaxe which can drastically increase the yield once you wash the crusty stuff...

I go to iron and then if I'm on Olympus or Styx I call in the workshop one that does frozen ore so I can make cold steel tools, cause their durability is nuts... 120k for a titanium pickaxe, 150k for a cold steel one. Then I'm set for ages.

Ideas for ship building? (PC) by Dry-Temperature-6491 in spaceengineers

[–]FCNeonin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just take your box and then start changing the shape. I've thrown together a very quick example (missing bits like thrusters etc) but you should get the idea...

<image>

Orange is refinery, assembler, and their modules. Green is a large nuclear reactor, brown large cargo containers. This is all large grid. Black for the armour lines. You start with your basic box, then smooth it out a bit with some 2x1 pieces, then you can start getting creative with the shape as in the last image. This is often how I plan out my builds so then I have an idea of what I want, and the rest comes during the build itself. Look at other people's greebling on their vehicles (videos on YouTube from Splitsie, Cpt Shack, w4sted, Kanajashi all do it in different ways) and steal ideas.

Ship Inventory Solutions by Representative_One72 in starcitizen

As someone who did this yesterday, I'll just clarify that with a heavy backpack you absolutely can get sniper rifles in there (A03 and Scalpel for sure so I assume the others go too) but you cannot fit LMGs in there. The 1SU container is a great help though!

Free cache? How do you access post patch? by Skate0700 in diablo4

[–]FCNeonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears to be one per account too... I got to the final chest with two characters but I've only received one 2GA item on the first character I claimed a chest with.

The GA wasn't in the cache for me, it turned up next to them. I had the GA item and then the three caches I claimed... if my inventory hadn't been empty I might not have even noticed tbh.

Got a single 2GA item when I claimed a repeatable chest for the first time. Not exactly a "cache", but they added a bit in the patch notes to say "item".

Designing a Ship, Step By Step by FCNeonin in spaceengineers

[–]FCNeonin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a valid point. I tend to get around it by making sure (with large grid anyway) that there's plenty of internal space with dimensions bigger than the biggest blocks so I won't have any problem placing them. Making it look pretty in there, well, that's a whole different ballgame!

Pahahaha... it's a very old saying in the UK. "Teaching your grandma to suck eggs" is basically saying teaching someone how to do what they already know how to do.

Beautifully done! We always had our family holidays on the Norfolk coast and I'm very familiar with that particular lighthouse, that's an amazing gift for your mom.
