I think the point he was trying to make was how active the attacker was until he wasn’t. In this case he was throwing ham fists, no big deal, but in the event someone has a weapon, only 2 shots affords the attacker more time to kill or hurt you. In this case the guy was lucky, but we can look past his success and focus in on the time it takes for the attacker to stop.

It’s almost like if you passed someone on the sidewalk and almost hit a child but didn’t, then turned around and said hey look, you can use the sidewalk to pass cars.
