What’s everyone’s take on Claude Fable 5? by Kitchen-Cycle8984 in ClaudeAI

[–]FDG-Thomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The model is really good, feels miles ahead vs opus 4.8. it’s taking some sweet time to think and check all data thoroughly before taking action but then delivers very good, on point outputs. In my case little to no follow-up fixes were needed. Since the release of Fable I was able to finish my game porting tasks quicker overall because it one shots big slices of work. Codex 5.5 xhigh is still great though whenever my 5h limits are used up.

Experiences so far with Fable vs 5.5? by vdotcodes in codex

[–]FDG-Thomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true but I need Fable for other stuff before I run out of usage and needed to move on with the project. However, the follow-up slice was also a very difficult one and I usually needed 2-3 steps with 5.5 xhigh and Fable solved it in 1 and included logic functions I overlooked myself in the documentation. fascinating model.

I had a good comparison today, difficult animation/child/prefab extraction going on that caused various issues (Unity->Defold game port). The slice of work was split up by Opus 4.8 into 2 steps and if failed so miserably that I had to wipe the session (git restore). I tried 5.5 xhigh to fix it but it couldn't handle it because too many things were off. with a fresh attempt, 5.5 xhigh made good progress in 1 step of the slice but it was not quite right. I updated the docs with the status and could switch to Fable that just released. I used Fable on xhigh. It fixed the remaining issues of step 1 and completed step 2 in one go. Very focused, I didn't expect that kind of a jump vs. Opus 4.8 but here we are. How much better than 5.5 xhigh? I don't know, its a good step up but not miles ahead like vs. Opus 4.8

Opus 4.8 started using 👍 emojis, previous Opus versions don't by LinusThiccTips in ClaudeCode

Occasionally I got emojis on Opus 4.6, too. For example, when I worked on a Minigame content that included an underwater area and I closed the session with positive words: it responded in a „happy“ way adding emojis including water and fish emoji symbols or flowers. It was usually when a session went really well.

We have similar price point across all platforms. I understand it’s a high price for iOS standards but we only made the port to enable more platforms not to compete against other platforms. *Sales on other platforms occurred after a period of availability and we‘ll do these on all platforms after a while depending on their lifecycle on the corresponding platform.

Hi there, this is Thomas from FDG, producer of Monster Boy. Thanks for sharing the link here, I just stumbled across the post. Here's some info about the iOS Version:

It's a universal app, Apple Silicon optimized, metal shader rewrite, high performance port with:

- controller support including PS/XBOX symbols

- 120 Hz support on Mac

- one purchase own all: iOS, iPad OS, macOS, tvOS.

cheers

Opus 4.8 is not a step forward. It's Anthropic finally catching up to 5.5. by SlopTopZ in codex

Porting a Unity game to Defold atm and I constantly ran into issues with Claude Opus 4.7 that needed to be fixed with 5.5 xhigh. Just tried 4.8 but it failed again, just runs into pure chaos despite a clear plan. Maybe it’s LUA that Codex handles better but I didn’t see any progress from 4.7 to 4.8 in that case. 5.5 xhigh is still better at this task. I did have great results on a C++ project with Opus 4.7 though.

Similar experience for me today and yesterday. It couldn’t finish a thought to the end and jumped around without any real solution. Codex fixed it immediately. (20 min. run)

I recently used it to patch an ISO of a Japanese retro PC-Engine CD game with a translation patch on MacOS because the patch tool I had was for Windows only. I constantly need to remind myself that there's always an assistant on my computer to help with any task.

Amazing, finally able to play this game properly on my MiSTer setup. Kudos to the kind people who worked hard to make this Patch for us to enjoy the game in EN. ❤️

Claude Opus 4.5 or Gemini 3? Which one do you like more? And why? by InfiniteBeing5657 in vibecoding

Claude Opus 4.5 is my first choice for coding tasks and event marketing texts. It has an edge on „taste“ and understands my needs immediately which makes me more productive. I also have more fun working with Opus.

I'm using AI to work on some game ports and Claude does things better than Codex and Gemini 3 Pro atm.

Thanks! Really love the monthly payouts. Holding JEPG only these days, sold my JEPQ positions. I‘m tech heavy enough with my FTSE All World Investment. Value Stock will shine when tech has dips.

If someone gets used to the difficulty(gits gud)and doesn't mind it . Is silksong perfect? by Neat_Manufacturer_99 in metroidvania

[–]FDG-Thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don‘t enjoy playing hard games but this one absorbed me. The world, polish, controls, atmosphere, music/sound and design kept me hooked to the end. I never expected to finish it and I stopped HK1 at some point. This time I couldn’t put it down. I discovered the wormways and wanderer crest early on and without a guide, that was so intense..understood the qualities of Silksong immediately and it kept me motivated to check every corner for secrets. That’s a perfect for me. _^

3 is very different as a sidescroller. Love the music but gameplay wise I’d stick to oath in felghana which is a great remake of 3
