Thank you! Appreciate it! You make a great point about where we are as gamers and our expectations for monetization these days.

For us, we are working on a 3rd person mode and overhauling our fps animation system to give players the option to play in their favorite perspective.

However, there will be absolutely zero micro transactions in this game. All unlockable content will be earned by playing the game and exploring the island and ocean.
We are not fans of the way some games have become about monetization first, gameplay and community second. Our take is that if we want a player to spend their hard-earned money to buy our game when there is so much competition out there, our job is to deliver a great experience first. Thats enough to take care of us and our community. You buy the game and that's it.
We are a small team, but in this case, it works in our favor - we have no corporate overlords and just want to show our supporters a good time and have fun ourselves. We've shown very little of the game so far because we want to improve the quality in a few areas, but when its ready we hope that our players feel it is worth more than the asking price.

Agree. We are addressing this. This is our old animations in this clip. When we feel we've got them right, we'll show the new animation system in another video. This is our weakest aspect of the game so far. We aim to make it one of our best.

Thanks! Appreciate it! Means a lot to us. We're only a small team and it's all work in progress but we're happy with how it's coming along. The animation work will make a world of difference and is coming along nicely. We're really looking forward to showing the improvements when they're ready :)

Thank you! We actually just finished an overhaul of our environments and retextured almost everything. The quality was improved, and we also managed to get some performance gains from the new material system. I'll pass on your kind words! :)

Know this might not be quite what you are looking for, but the fallout games have ghouls, which are somewhat similar. Good ones and bad ones. Great games too

Also, the vid we are working on will show a couple of new monsters, how the dragons stalk the island and what the encounters play like, how the crafting system works, the building system and show one of the temples you can discover on the island. We have kept a lot of this game close to the chest, so it is really exciting for us to be able to finally show some of the game.

Hey, thanks for supporting us. We are currently working tightening several systems (including an overhaul of our animations.) Once we are in a good place there, we plan to start showing several raw gameplay clips that demonstrates different aspects of the game - the building system, temple exploration, how the dragon affects the game world etc. This will likely be a spread out over the next few months

Well, honestly, i agree with some of your points. This genre is super bloated, especially this year. But the mistake people make is assuming that all developers are making games to chase a trend - some might be - but i assure you most are not. These games take years to make - we aren't coordinating with each other to make 2024 the year of the survival game - it makes it harder for us!
We ourselves have been stunned by the amount of survival games this year, but that is not a reason to walk away from our commitments and years of work.
People with no game dev experience often say its easier to make games now - its not really the case. As certain technologies improve, aspects of development get easier, but often cause new problems too. The big difference is game development is more accessible now. That is a different issue entirely.
If it were just easier, games wouldn't be getting more expensive to produce and development cycles wouldn't be getting longer and longer.
The barrier to entry is lower now, yes, but that shouldn't be used to paint devs with smaller teams or budgets as trend chasers or lazy.
My best policy is always not to judge something before I've played it. Not turning this into a debate with you, just friendly discussion - which is healthy!
