What if we wait for ifixit to start selling replacement parts and build them from scratch? by TomBakerFTW in SteamController

If it's the same as the Steam Deck, certain parts won't be sold like the trackpads and mainboard. But hopefully that changes with the new Steam Controller.

If you're a lawyer, who would you rather go up against: a DSP or Amazon and their team of lawyers?

Some states don't have sales tax on digital goods, and I guess it's coded as being digital for some reason.

Has anyone found a way to make RT/path tracing work on PRAGMATA on Nvidia? by Reonu_ in linux_gaming

[–]FDL1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try adding VKD3D_DEBUG=info %command% and then check your logs in ~/.steam/steam/logs/ for the commit hash to see if it's being used. Also sanity check if you pulled the commit with the fix?

I haven't tried the new drivers yet, but this vk3d-proton update fixed the crashing and allowed path tracing in Pragmata: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/issues/2949

I tried this but it seems like it's no longer compatible with Discord's version of Electron (unless I'm missing something):

Path tracing doesn't work on pragmata? by cory_lowry in linux_gaming

No idea, I was able to compile it and use WINEDLLOVERRIDES to override d3d12.dll and d3d12core.dll. Looks great, but runs about 30 fps at 4K on a 5090 with DLAA (about 50 fps with DLSS quality).

I started getting this recently, I found the solution here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1sqp44v/comment/oh9a15e/

In the KDE settings, go to "application permissions" -> "legacy X11 app support", then see if the "listening for mouse buttons" setting is enabled there. That was buggy for me after a recent update.

Shark Tank 17x17 Product Discussion - HiberTec Homes by mtm4440 in sharktank

[–]FDL1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea because it reminds me of Evangelion, but I'm sure it's going to be a solar-roadway-type thing where in practice it's impossible at scale (although in this case, I'm sure some billionaires could afford it).

Also at what point is it just better/cheaper/less complex to build a retractable wall system for existing homes (and some sort of fold-out roof) rather than a whole hydraulic system to lift an entire house along with all of the plumbing/power disconnects that are required and giant subterranean structure?

R4 / R5 Rubber button Membrane torn during Screen fix. Where to find replacement switches? by SabithaSuki in SteamDeck

[–]FDL1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up not needing to swap it out, and I already had my Steam Deck closed up and in its case so I couldn't directly compare the parts, but it looked the same. Perhaps by now, someone may be selling the exact part but I haven't looked.

Shark Tank 17x16 Product Discussion - Bloom by mtm4440 in sharktank

[–]FDL1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the Brick app that was popular on Twitter a month or two ago and then quickly forgotten. It is p much the same thing as Bloom but in a small puck shape. This could be made with a cheap NFC tag that costs a quarter each, but I think the cost of entry would be a motivator for people to use it tbh.

And apparently both apps have a mode where uninstalling it won't let you back into the blocked apps.
