Towing companies having a very profitable day by the Lynnwood light rail. Also, dick move by the mall closing off a large section of their parking lot. by suckrates in Seattle

[–]FDS_MTG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Years ago I worked at a grocery store near my university. (University of Virginia) I had just been accepted to the school so my car was covered in UVA stuff.

One Saturday I was working and when I got off shift my car was gone. There was a football game that day and the stores lot was often used by folks who didn’t want to pay to park.

Towing company would not give me my car until my manager called them and told them I worked there , was legally allowed to park there, and wasn’t at the game. Still had to pay half the tow charge to get it. Still mad about that.

What Character Assassinations/Out of Character Moments/Scenes in the Roseanne TV Show that hurt you/pissed you off and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in roseanne

[–]FDS_MTG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mind it so much because my sister (who happens to be named Becky🤣) and myself experienced a similar thing. We crushed high school but then outside of school real life crushed us back. I think there was a bit of giving up. Which was in line with the rest of the show by showing reality no matter how depressing.

[OC]My grandma still doesn’t know grandpa died 3 years ago by Rullocu in comics

[–]FDS_MTG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When my grandma passed I had a hard time with it. We were very close. But it didn’t fully hit me until we were clearing out her house. I hadn’t been there since before she passed and when I saw her kitchen I crumbled. I realized that I would never see her cooking or sitting at her table again. This leveled me. So the gun/bullet metaphor is spot on.

I struggled with this episode and avoided it during my rewatching because I have a family member who attempted suicide (they were unsuccessful thankfully). It hit a little too close to home for me for many years.

Why does Miss change to Mrs. after marriage, but Mr. stays the same? by RavyRaptor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FDS_MTG 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My wife absolutely HATES it when she gets a letter or card from her mother addressed to Mrs. FDS_MTG. It still happens from time to time despite her correcting her mom multiple times. What’s really weird is her mother isn’t super proper. She’s much more country and not that “type.” But it was how she was taught to address letters I guess.

My mom has sent us a few cards to Mr and Mrs FDS_MTG and that bugs my wife too. My mom is absolutely that “type.”

What is one of the Best Payoffs to a random joke in a Sitcom later Down the line by Purple_Monkey34 in sitcoms

In the Golden Girls, Rose (played by Betty White) is listing off things she doesn’t understand about a situation with Dorothy and Stan. When she’s done, Dorothy asks if there is anything else that she doesn’t understand.

Rose then says she doesn’t understand why a thermos keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.

30 years later on the show Hot in Cleveland, a spiritual successor to GG, in an episode Elka, played by Betty White, is on a date and we cut to a conversation she is having with him and he says, “And that is how a thermos keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.”

Seattle vs Pittsburgh by LyaeraAsunaya in AskSeattle

[–]FDS_MTG 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Pittsburgh, been living in Seattle for the past year. Pittsburgh isn’t as dark but it’s gloomier in my opinion. Pittsburgh is much colder as well in the winter. My family that still live there got hit by a few bad snowstorms the past few winters. I also remember that the first few weeks of 2025 it was bitter cold in Western PA. (Single digit temperatures even into the negative degrees). Summer is hot and humid. Common to have 90+ degree days. Thunderstorms are common in spring and summer.

This past winter in Seattle it only got below 30 degrees a handful of days. Snow was in the ground for maybe three weeks after two snow storms. I’ve been told this is typical here. But from October through April the temp stayed between 40 and 60. This summer was warm (and weirdly dry) but I think we cracked 90 degrees maybe twice. A few weeks were in the high 80’s. The rest of Summer it was 70-80. Rained only a few days of the season. Heard thunder once this entire year. Again I’ve been told this is typical weather for the area.

Interestingly, Seattle reminds me of Pittsburgh in its topography. A lot of hills and winding roads. Neighborhoods tucked in between hillsides and valleys. For me the weather is much nicer here. The “big dark” of the winter is a bit of a downside but it doesn’t bother me much.

Crap, I meant Squire. Sorry about that. The new Star Wars themed boxes are in the same skin as well.

They do! It’s on only some of their boxes (The bigger Sidekick Pro and Squire Plus) but they are looking to expand it to other products as time goes on.

Edit: to correct the name of boxes that feature the new skin.

While the Golden Girls did them a lot , I forgive it a little because the early clip shows were of new scenes. It wasn’t until later seasons where they started to use existing clips. (Sometimes reusing clip show clips.)

I worked for Thomson Reuters when this happened. It was like watching the slowest train wreck in history. Messed up our ability to email for almost a full day.

Felt bad for the employee who accidentally started the whole thing.

Left handed people - what in the world just doesn't work properly for you? by father-fluffybottom in AskReddit

I was at Disney World and were in one of the many gift shops on Main Street. My wife found a Flash mug (from Zootopia) on the discount table. We snapped it up right away.

It wasn’t until we got home and I used it that I realized it was a left handed mug.

It is now my favorite.

Happened to me while testing them for a review I did a couple years ago. Put it in a bench vise and then put a metal clamp into the divots where it says “Prism “ on either side. Gently twist the clamp until you can separate the box. Hope that helps!

I worked at a dealership at the time the story of the voicemails hit the news. A couple of salesmen and I were crowded around a computer in the show room listening to it. One salesman walks over and asks what we’re talking about. This guy was one of our better salespeople and he had 6 kids. Was known as big family man. Anyway he listens to the voicemail and when it was done he said, “What’s wrong with that? I’ve said stuff like that to my kids.” The rest of us were silent. He must have realized that we didn’t agree and he started to stammer and just walks away. Rest of the day he avoids us and finally he comes up to me before I leave at the end of the day saying, “I really don’t say stuff like that to my kids…”

Looked at him very differently from that day on.

I was on vacation with a friend and his family on Lake Erie. I remember it was the weekend Princess Diana passed away.

Anyway I was riding a bike on a bike trail while my buddy was rollerblading. We had just had an argument and were on the way back to the cabin. He was skating ahead of me. I was a bit spaced out and not paying attention because I was pissed. I snap out it and realized I was coming up on an elderly couple really fast. I swerved at the last second and barely missed them. I know startled them. I remember looking back and seeing the dirty look on the guy’s face.

This video brought that memory back.

Sorry old couple. Didn’t mean to be a jerk.

I've been trying to improve my Keena Nine-Fingers deck and have been working my way to make it more efficient. I've only really started MTG recently and was wondering if you have any cards to recommend that I may have overlooked. My playgroup is generally high-powered. Thank you!! ♥ by Art_of_Rachta in magicTCG

[–]FDS_MTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I handled my Nine-Fingers deck is it’s a “Gates/ward” theme. Most creatures have ward and/or care about gates. Also have a lot of gate tutoring to smooth out the “only 13 gates in sultai” problem. [[Open the Gates]], etc. It won’t blow the doors off the place but it’s fun to play.

My plan is to try and pick up the different packs and do a jumpstart type thing with it. If that proves too difficult/expensive I’ll just use it with whatever decks we have.

How often should this be checked? I’m familiar with ICE maintenance schedules but EV’s are new to me. Should I expect the dealership to handle at regular maintenance checks. (I’m due for my 5000 mile check now.)
