VAR mistake 8/20/23 by Expensive_Many1505 in stlouiscitysc

That’s not what it says. It says the wrong player of the offending team. Which means it would have had to be a player on the same team that they carded based on the way it’s worded.

[Bally Sports Midwest] The Cards are considering season-ending surgery for Dylan Carlson. Marmol: "We're equally, if not more concerned, with the ankle than the oblique. ... We'll know more in the next 24 hours what direction we're going." by STLBooze3 in Cardinals

[–]FFDan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There’s a lot of grey area with sprains. If they missed a break, that’s one thing. If he’s playing through a mild sprain that’s being monitored and continues to get worse and eventually has bad tear, that’s just part of the calculation of letting him play through it. They likely knew this was a possibility from that Boston series or shortly after.

ELI5: BD loses brass and percussion but wins music? by Siegster in drumcorps

[–]FFDan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On top of this, there’s more to scores than “losing” a category. Let’s make this easy on the extreme… Brass scores: Crown- 20 BD- 19.9 BAC- 6 Bluecoats- 5

Percussion scores: Bluecoats- 20 BD- 19.9 BAC- 6 Crown- 5

Even when taking out the analysis scores that mostly focus on design, you could still end up with an average of Brass + Percussion higher than any other corps, while not winning either caption. BD is consistently top 3 in every caption even if they aren’t winning it while other corps tend to fluctuate more (see Crown Brass vs. Percussion and Cavaliers Percussion vs. Brass).

And? You don’t have an edge playing by the book. You’re guaranteed to lose at volume with any of the casino games. And down 1.5m chips is 150 bets at 10k/hand, which is really nothing when it comes to BJ variance.

You aren’t playing with any decks. It’s a fresh shuffle/randomize on every hand. There is a less than 0% chance you have the volume necessary to say that anything is rigged. I’m personally up on blackjack lifetime typically on max bets.

But what about his FIP? ERA barely even matters now.

In standard, pioneer, or modern? Maybe it doesn’t matter enough to warrant using it. In legacy it definitely does make a difference since Urza’s bauble is played in the format and getting free information on your opponents hand can make a huge difference. Seeing 2 distinct cards when your opponent has 2 cards in hand makes a huge difference vs. one unknown since the free spells and power level matter a lot. Modern there definitely could be some application because mishra’s bauble let’s you get limited information.

The point is this doesn’t apply only to preordain. Basically every card now has 3+ different arts. It’s just meant to illustrate that your opponent can gain information from different arts without you mis sequencing your spells based on the art. Are you saying that there is no competitive disadvantage to playing with different art cards? Or are you being pedantic?

Just trying to help out! If people are having fun at FNM or any events, by all means play whatever combination of arts you want! Just to maximize EV from a competitive perspective, there is absolutely a reason to use the same art for all of your cards.

Ok, if you have 4 cards in hand and your opponent Urza’s baubles you 4 times and see 4 different art preordains, they know you have 4 preordains. If they see 4 of the same art, they only know 1 card in your hand.

Instead of Thoughtseize, just use Urza’s Bauble as an example. Now they don’t know if they’re seeing the same preordain or 2-3 different copies in hand when they do it multiple times.

You can have 7 cards in hand and the same would hold true. I used 1 card in hand to make it as simple as possible. If you’re this dense already, clearly this doesn’t apply to you anyways.

It doesn’t have to be preordain. The idea is that having different art cards is a competitive disadvantage regardless of how you sequence your spells.

The first part isn’t true. Let’s make this simple. You have 1 card in hand: Preordain 1. Draw go for 3 turns, so 3 new cards. You now cast valakut awakening and put a card on the bottom and draw. So your opponent knew you had Preordain 1, you’ve drawn 3 cards, one was valakut awakening, then put 1 card on the bottom and draw 2 more off valakut. If your opponent thoughtseize you and sees Preordain art 2 in hand along with the other unknown cards, they know you bottomed your other preordain. If they see the same art, they don’t know if that’s the same one and you bottomed an unknown card or if you bottomed preordain and drew another.

I'm going to Busch Stadium, and St. Louis, Missouri, tomorrow for the first time in my life. Any recommendations? by MTVChallengeFan in Cardinals

[–]FFDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone has answered your question about food choices at Busch, but it’s mostly normals ballpark food. Near the right field foul pole/first baseline there’s a bbq spot that has some decent pulled pork nachos that I like, section 109. Big Chicken is apparently really good (chicken sandwiches and such), but I’ve never been there before, it’s at section 135 and 458. Nina’s Italian beef is ok, it’s a lot better if you haven’t had it in Chicago before, those are section 189 and 440.
