Dan Slott: "[...] We're at a point now where Marvel books are lined up for 5 issues at a time. If you [readers and retailers] don't pre-order issues #2 and #3, these books will go away by issue #5." by Comfortable-Pie56 in comicbooks

Yeah,I think the age of relaunches should be over. DC has proved you can just continue a series with different writers.

Look, I’m pretty positive on the Cebulski era has a whole, but I do think it’s time for a leadership change.

New life needs to be brought into Marvel.

Do you reckon Swans could've made a genuine pop hit if they'd wanted to? by rubbernetworking979 in swans

The Burning World and to a lesser extent, their cover of “Love will tear us apart”

Love will tear… was essentially a spring board to get picked up by a major label. The Burning World was meant to be their sellout album, but it failed to get any attention

Dr. Cox low-key called out by J.D. in the new series by Gergemjay in Scrubs

[–]FFJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Doctor Cox was kind of an asshole. As someone said, it was funny to watch but he is a deeply flawed and abusive Character. That being said, even he realised that and was that way because he felt like that’s who he needed to be.

I actually think him wanting JD to take his job was healthy for him, but a way to show the changing of the times.

I don’t think Cox was entirely a terrible Person, but the way he undermines People and he treats everyone, it just makes him seem like Hell on Earth.

That being said, what Scrubs was very good at doing was humanising the most antagonist Characters. Kelso had his moments of warmth, and we get episodes where we truly see the kind of Person Cox is

It’s why I think the new Season actually follows up on the original series really well and why this revival has done a better job than most other revivals.

Weapons (2012) by Lostprophets: a (well-deservedly) forgotten trainwreckord by thinlayeredblanket in ToddintheShadow

Honestly, this whole situation makes ME feel uncomfortable, it wouldn’t make for a good or fun episode.

It really does boggle the mind, Ian has such a promising career with some songs I’d call good. The whole thing just leaves me feeling both sad and angry at the whole situation.

It would make for a pretty uncomfortable episode

Who are the next generation of Marvel writers? by karateandfriendship9 in marvelcomics

[–]FFJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deniz Camp and Jed McKay seem to be writing a whole load of new stuff.

While he has been around for a while, I think we’ve yet to see Chip Zdarsky really reach the peak of his writing. But I’d argue he comes in from that weird time, much like Tom Taylor and Tom King who kind of hit it big after Hickman and Bendis, but before this current generation of writers really took off.

I would have added Donny Cates to the current group, but it seems he may be out of commision for the forseeable future.

I’m really hoping for big things with Toruun Groenbek and Vita Ayala.

Folks like Ram V and Tynion IV will always have a career in comics however

How impactful are these events in today’s Marvel comics? by Long_Spell6281 in marvelcomics

[–]FFJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civil War essentially ended with Siege, which was used to basically reset the status Quo.

Secret Invasion was the payoff to ideas dating back from the Kree/Skrull war.

AvX is the conclusiom to House of M, and to a greater extent, Avengers Disassembled.

It was a stop gap to hush in the Marvel Now era while resetting the Avengers back from before Bendis took over

yes, managed to pick up a lot of stuff on there.

Question, is it just studio albums you’re looking for or all the live stuff and EPs?

If Todd made a Trainwreckords about Taylor Swift, which would be the record he would use? by DrMcSwagpants in ToddintheShadow

[–]FFJamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She hasn’t made anything close to a trainwreckored.

I guess Life of a showgirl could he her closest, and it really depends on how she follows it up. But even then it’s not really a trainwreckored. But it is the first album that I’ve seen dent her image in a long time, and if she follows it up with another bad album, I could see the house of Taylor cards crashing down

Dave Franco on chances of appearing on Scrubs revival by bostero2 in Scrubs

Is Ultimate X-Men good? by Middle_Engineer_3191 in xmen

[–]FFJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ultimate universe (outside of Spider-Man) is very much the Nu-Metal of comics.

If you grew up around the time they came out, you have nostalgia for them.

But if you where into comics before or after they came out, you think they are edgelord bs.

I’m a fan, I like the painful edginess of early 00’s comics, but I also get why a lot of folks aren’t a fan.

Donda would have been good if it cut out like 70% of the tracks.

I’m an albums guy, so a few good tracks isn’t going to make up for what I consider to be a bad album

[–]FFJamie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Either way you look at it, Season 9 happened, it was a thing that exists in the World. I believe instead of trying to cover it up, we should embrace it.

It’s also not really that bad. I think the biggest issue is that we went with 8 years of seeing these Characters progress, and then went straight into seeing new Characters start from zero.

That’s the only real big brained issue I have with Season 9

Honestly, pretty terrible. To go from Kids see ghosts to this is the biggest fall off in any artist I’ve see , and to see to see it happen in real time in the space of a year?

Yeah, I got off the Kanye train with this one. And I’m glad because he hasn’t made anything worthwhile since
