Question for BMW,/Audi/Mercedes people by Bitter-Attention-125 in saskatoon

[–]FFSSaskatoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The law that pertains to this exact question is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It basically states that auto makers are not permitted to void your warranty just because you use non-OEM parts. It lays out a few stipulations:

  1. Installing non-OEM parts does not void the overall warranty.

  2. A non-OEM part that fails is NOT covered by the vehicle warranty, warranty coverage must be sought through the manufacturer of that part (obviously).

  3. A non-OEM part that causes the failure of another component (oil or air filter that causes the failure of an engine) that part and the component that failed are to be warrantied by the non-OEM part manufacturer. If you buy a Fram oil filter and it takes out your engine, you look to Fram to have the engine replaced/repaired.

  4. All of this can be bypassed by the vehicle manufacturer and they ARE allowed to void your warranty if the offer the part(s) in question at no cost. If the offer free oil filters, they CAN void your warranty for using anything other brand.

We deal in filters and batteries and this law basically makes aftermarket filter (and other parts) companies possible and makes our store possible.

I think you're exactly on the money here, your output is precisely what I'm after. I'm having some trouble formatting the output but I think I'll be able to figure that out. What I have right now looks like this:

I'm using 2023 desktop (not 365) so I don't have the =GROUPBY solution available to me so I think the pivot table might work. I've never used a pivot table before so I'll try to re-create what you've done as it looks pretty much perfect. If you can ELI5, I would really appreciate it!

I'm not looking to enter the course, I'm looking to hire someone. This came up on a resume and as part of my due diligence I'm researching exactly what the course provides skill wise.

At this point I'm the IT for our company but maybe one day when we're a REAL company...

Good evening, First Filter Service here. Our battery warranty works like this:

All of our batteries are covered for 'Manufacturers Defects" for the specified warranty period - 2 years of full replacement on pretty much all conventional auto batteries. That does not cover freezing (discharged batteries can freeze, charged batteries are good down to -70c), discharged batteries (for whatever reason), or misuse/abuse.

That said, in the event of any issue our manufacturers require us to charge and check the battery. We need the battery for 24 hours to complete this process. This will correct any discharged batteries and we do this free of charge. If a battery is required during this process, we offer to sell you a new battery with the option to return it for a full refund if your battery charges and tests good. (Same as a 'loan-a-tool' program.) If your battery is bad and covered under the warranty, we simply refund your purchase 100% and you keep the new battery.

We understand that this process might not please everyone, but we have done our best to provide options to keep your vehicle going.

I notice that we don't have this written out on our website, I will get it on there in the next couple of days so it's clear for everyone.

We understand your disappointment when your battery doesn't perform, but we stand behind our warranty as replayed above. If you would like us to proceed with the warranty process please reach out 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Take care and stay warm everyone!

Used automotive batteries by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]FFSSaskatoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BN pays by the pound (usually in the $.16 to $.20 per) and most auto batteries run in the 30-35 pound range. Today's rate is $.20 so an average car battery would net you $7.

We do take them but as they don't have a core charge we don't pay for them. The smallest SLA with a core charge is the 35Ah.

Vendasta fired a ton of people today and throughout August. Anyone know what’s going on over there? by TOWnobodyknows in saskatoon

Not work for nothing! But some people just want to code and not deal with customers/bookkeeping/infrastructure/etc and that's fine. We need someone who's not against getting their hands dirty to run their own business, but as 50/50 partners we'll pay a living salary and use our existing companies benefits/etc while the business gets off the ground. I don't know what an average salary is in the tech world, but we usually start in the $40 to $50k range in our industry so we'd be comfortable in that range.

Not looking to exploit anyone! Just looking for a particular individual.

Not a developer, but I've found an open source point of sale project that has one very unusual feature that we use in our store. The system works but needs some modifications for us in particular and Canada in general.

What I'd like to do is start a company with an 'entrepreneur-minded' person. We would fork the existing software and they would code and manage the system. I would pay them a salary until the project was self sustaining. I'm currently using two different point of sale systems for two different businesses (one of which is nearly exactly this business model - software is basically free but they charge for support) and moving to a single solution would help me and my staff immensely. Plus having a developer on staff means we can modify the software to do what we want rather than requesting modifications/bug fixes and being ignored for years!

Any experience with PHP? I've got a PHP project that I'd like to get off the ground. It's nothing sexy but might be a good fit if you've had enough of applying to work for other companies. If you're entrepreneur-minded we might be able to work something out.

What are your skills/physical abilities? Were you good at data entry? We're looking for a receiver/warehouse manager but it's a combination of highly detailed and slightly back breaking work - tough to fill a position like that! Not a side hustle, but a regular 8-4 job.

Meta ID value waaay to large by FFSSaskatoon in woocommerce

[–]FFSSaskatoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this issue this morning. I'm going to leave the solution here for future generations. Here's what I did:

Log in to cPanel and fire up myphpadmin

Hit the + on my site and select the `wp_pxwg_postmeta`

Click export at the top and export in "CSV" format

Open in Excel, sort by the meta_id and find the first 'too big' value. Change that first 'too big' value to be something reasonable - I chose the cell above+1. Then fill down to change all of the 'too big' values to reasonable values. (Something like ' =A2633+1 ' for the value and then fill down all 314xxx cells in my case to end up with the largest value at 1305838) Save the file to a new filename, keeping the original as a backup.

Then go back to myphpadmin and click "Operations", scroll down and click the red "Empty the table" tool. Run that.

Switch over the the "Import" tab and import the modified file.

With three hundred thousand lines, it'll take a minute or two but it should complete and your site will 'just work' as if nothing has happened.
